A MEETING IN MAUVE

Happy Canada Day, this Monday,
to all my Canadian friends!
It's been almost a week
since my last post and first swim!

 On Thursday,
I hosted a meeting
 for a philanthropic society
 that I recently joined.

The days leading up to it
had been spent
 cleaning, baking,
styling and prepping.

Twelve lovely ladies,
each a resident of our quaint little village,
arrived promptly at six.

Too hot and sunny to sit in the garden,
we made ourselves comfortable indoors.

Among all the thoughtful gifts,
our Mrs. President presented me
with fresh, organic fruit from her garden,
and the inspiration for this post!

How would you define this duo?

Upon first glance,
I guessed, ''Cherries!"

But cherries have a longer stem.
Taking a closer look
at this mysterious bunch,
 sans stems,

 it was all too clear
that cherries, they were not!

Plump and juicy
rosé and robust,
these tiny plums
are a miniature must!

Their purple swirls
and dark pink twirls
pointed me towards the garden-

a melting pot of these four hues:

plum and purple
pink and blue

showed up for a meeting
in a dreamy, mauve bloom!

Thanks for 'attending'

Poppy

  11. Your posts are worth waiting for! These sweet colors are so feminine, old-fashioned and yet current at the same time. I'm sure that was a lovely evening you ladies spent together. And the plums! My husband would have loved them.

I'm totally unfamiliar with Bloglovin' but then I also knew nothing about google reader. I'm much to tech ignorant but I'll try your button now and see how to do this.

As usual you drew your reader into your lovely home.

  22. Happy Canada day to you and all your lovely Canadian followers! To celebrate Canada day and your post theme, here is a poem written by a Canadian about the colour lilac:

    Lilac rain
    a purple hase is smiling
    from unknown realms
    to feel loves' eternal thoughts.
    Lilac rain
    in a springs' delight
    0f flowers beyond their beauty.
    Lilac rain
    you moisten my thoughts
    for summers'days and nights,
    you open my mind
    to loves' greatest dreams.
    Lilac rain
    you clothe my desires
    and moisten my passions
    for lifes' pure beauty.
    Lilac rain
    in pastures green
and fields where I can freely roam
to feel life with my heart
while my soul will take me home.

  34. Poppy,
What a fun gathering you had with your group of ladies. I would have guessed olives since you are in Greece, but they didn't really look like olives.

Beautiful blues, lilacs, mauves....all my favorite colors.
