A Little Bit of Drama

Yesterday morning,
on the way to my house,

my aunt, also known as, 'La  Contessa',

stopped to pick these delicate beauties,
which were withering away,
 on an overgrown shrub.

Immediately immersed in water,
they absorbed its liquid magic,

and seconds later,
twinkled back to life,
like tiny shiny stars,
sparkling, in the dark,
 still shuttered room.

  3. What a gorgeous bouquet! May I ask what the flowers are? They look sort of like hydrangea. Sounds like a lovely morning to me. Enjoy the weekend.

    1. Well, Pamela, it seems my hunch was right! Penelope Bianchi agrees that they are, in fact, very thirsty bougainvillea! Now, to save the shrub, after rescuing the bouquet!

  19. I am so hoping that someone went back to this bougainvillea vine and watered it! I would carry a watering can all the way from California! It needs water!

How said if the vine that provided those beautiful vines dies from lack of water!

It can produce so many of those beautiful flowers who responded to the water in the vase!

    Oh, please, save that vine!!!

    Thank you!!

  25. Wow, better than jewels. Love the lace, just makes the still so classic. Reminds me, we all need to hydrate, not only with water, but with things and people who lift our spirits.

  34. Hi Poppy!
Those flowers are beautiful. FYI most cut flowers will pop back up when immersed in water. Hydrangeas...roses especially.

  36. Those flowers are missing from my garden and table as Winter edges near to us. What beauties they are too. Love those colours, they would work well here. Sweet image of you as well Poppy!

  37. Oh my gosh Poppy I do that all the time. Especially with flowers and plants from construction sites, which, here in Vancouver, are so plentiful it isn't even funny. :)

  38. They are so beautiful and what a kind auntie to bring them to you and the pinks are such a happy color.

  39. Poppy, those flowers are really pretty! It's a miracle what water can do, isn't it? My pot of mums out on the front steps got hit with the frost and weren't looking very well. I decided to cut some off and brought them inside and plopped them into some water. They rewarded me by springing back to life and giving me a lovely bouquet for about two weeks. Sounds like you and your aunt enjoyed a lovely day together. Thank you for joining me at my HOME and enjoy the rest of your week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
