Al Fresco with Friends

On Saturday, our friends and neighbours, Jocelyn and Andy,
hosted a wonderful lunch at their beautiful vacation
property, just down the road from Poppy View.

Ray-Ban ready, Poppy gets pampered by her pals.

A trusty ally, the weather allowed for a fun, al fresco event,
as delicious food was enjoyed by all, under the Cretan sun.

The complex of three traditional style villas, are
available for vacation rental throughout the year,

and provide magnificent views of
both the mountains and the sea.

High above valleys of vineyards and olive groves, and
nestled between still summer blooms and thick greenery,
guests indulged in Cretan specialties and lively conversation.

Thanks to Jocelyn and Andy for a lovely afternoon.
How was your weekend? Still dining al fresco?
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week!

  2. Wow. Wouldn't I love to spend a week at that villa! How beautiful. I wish we were still enjoying dining outside. We could, I suppose, but it's too chilly. For me. :)

  6. Oh Poppy, I saw the photos last night that Jocelyn had posted on FB and despite the fact Joel was engrossed in a football game, I thrust the phone in front of his face and said, "THIS is how I envisioned us at 'our' Greek house this fall!!!" (nothing subtle about me sometimes). So between the two of you, my Greek wanderlust is at full strength today. Enjoy those blue skies and al fresco moments ~ we lost ours last week to autumn's clouds and rain. . .Happy week ahead!! xxx J.

  8. Good Afternoon Poppy, Oh my word, how wonderful to still be enjoying the afternoon sunshine.... whilst wearing your Ray-bans. There is nothing like being spoilt.... especially by good friends.
I would love to say, yes, we are still eating al frescoe, but no.... the weather is far too cold. I will just enjoy your beautiful photographs and imagine myself sitting, enjoying lunch with you.
    Best Wishes to you.

  20. These bright photos are a wonderful antidote to the grey drizzle outside my window that is making me feel very sleepy. We're not eating alfresco any longer here, alas. What a lovely time you had with your friends.

  21. Hi Poppy. The weekend started out cloudy and we had some snow on the mountaintop, but by Sunday afternoon it was sunny and in the 70's. We didn't dine al fresco, but we did get an ice cream cone and go for a drive in the country. :) xxx ~ Nancy

  22. What an absolutely gorgeous setting for dinner or anything else! The grounds and the pool are beautiful. I'm always curious, being that I live where poisonous snakes, spiders & scorpions abound, do you have any of those kinds of things in Crete?

  23. Spectacular! I am wishing that I could transport myself there right now, and just soak in all of that gorgeous scenery. Add good friends and food into the mix, and it doesn't get better than that! It's getting too cool here for al fresco dining. The most I can manage now is a cup of coffee on the deck, while wearing a sweatshirt.

  30. Looks like you had a great weekend!
Saturday was everything but food for me, as I observed Karwa Chauth fast. It is an Indian festival where the women refrain from taking foods and fluids, and pray for the long life of their husbands. (Can rad more on my latest blog post.) It was beautiful :)
