Decor to Explore on Lake Ontario's Shores

Meet the talented Michael Penney:
decorator, retailer, husband and father.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Michael,
when we visited his beautiful shop in the
pretty town of Whitby, Ontario, last week.

My mom, my sister, my daughter, and I spent some
time studying the charming rooms,  at Penney & Co.,
114 Dundas St. West, in the heart of downtown Whitby.

The entire space is furnished and accessorized by
items that Michael has hand picked himself.

Before heading back home, we made a stop near the city's marina. Being a Pisces, I am naturally drawn to water. Thus, whether it's the saltwater of the deep blue Aegean, or the cold freshwater of Lake Ontario, waves on hydro runways, seagulls floating in the misty air, and the muffled echo of voices in the distance, always demand barefoot march along rugged coastlines,

or simply a leisurely stroll near the sandy shore.

Thanks for visiting!
xoxo
Poppy

  9. It looks like you are having a lovely time Poppy. The shop certainly contains many decorating ideas. I am drawn to water too, and I would be heading down to take a walk by the water. I have an estuary about a couple of kilometres from where I live, and I try to walk along there every morning. It is a great way to start the day. Enjoy your stay in Canada Poppy.

  15. Michael seems to have a classic but an 'I don't take myself too seriously' kind of style. Keep shopping, exploring, and enjoying your time with your family and friends and don't forget to report back to us about all your shenanigans and exploits ;).

  16. What fun to be able to explore with your mother and sisters along the shores of Lake Ontario... but for me too the highlight of the day would have been the walk along the water. Growing up on an island, there is something about the water that always captivates me and pulls me in its direction! I am so glad that you are enjoying such a beautiful time with your family! Hugs!

  23. Such a pleasure to walk through Michael Penney's door with you to explore his beautiful displays!

I wonder, as there were 4 of you there, 3 generations, your mother, you and your sister, and Liberty, are your tastes similar or widely different? Were you each wanting different things at Penney & Co., or would you have had dibs on the same things?

Have a lovely weekend, dear Poppy,
