"The Cake Enthusiast" by Janet Hill |
Welcome back,
Firstly, I’d like to thank Brenda at Cozy Little House
once again for featuring Poppy View on her Welcome Wagon post last Friday. It
was a very sweet gesture and it gave me the opportunity to make some new friends who share similar hobbies.
In your comments, some of you expressed that you would like to see more
pictures of my kitchen, so today I’d like to extend my hospitality and show you
around.
No, the gorgeous painting above is not of my kitchen!
This whimsical little cubbyhole of a corner can be found in the brilliant
imagination of Canadian artist, Janet Hill. I’m sure many of you have heard of
her by now. I discovered her last year and when I did, I was delighted with
disbelief at her charming and nostalgic images, reminiscent of simpler,
romantic times. Her choice of subject matter, the richness of her colour
palette and a stucco-like brush effect give her a unique signature style that
evokes lingering feelings of merriment and bliss.
Okay, wake up! The dream is over. Reality rings! For
now, here are a few figments of my imagination that managed to make it to the
real world. So, help yourself to a strong cup of your favourite caffeine
boost, 'cause I dream in COLOUR!
Thanks for dropping by. Always nice to see you!
Talk to you soon!
Poppy
Hello Poppy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us more of your very happy kitchen!! I'd learn to cook in a kitchen like that---sunny and very charming!! I love the wooden round table, Poppy. That is wonderful, warm touch. Thank you, again, for sharing.
Cheers,
Loi
PS - I've never been to Greece, and would love to see photos. Maybe a future post / tour? ;-)

Hi Amanda,
DeleteSo nice of you to stop by and lovely to meet you! Thanks so much for the kind words. I just visited you at your place and had a great time reading some of your latest posts. Hope to get to the rest later this afternoon.
Poppy
PS: Am following you, NOT because you did, but because I love your blog!
Hello Poppy,
ReplyDeleteWas delighted to receive your comments about my latest post. As your comments were lengthy (nice though) I'll reply via email soon. Got some supply teaching to do today so must get down to lesson planning.
How annoying work comes between me and my blog :-)
Amanda :-)
We do have a lot in common. I ADORE her paintings! One of these days I'm going to have one. Love her kitchen paintings.

Oh, what a cheery, bright kitchen! The chickens, red checks, sunshiny yellow accents...I can't imagine having a room that doesn't have a little pop of RED! It is such a happy color (and, happens to be my favorite color, too!)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this delightful setting!
Blessings,
Carolynn
Beautiful! Love the painting and the kitchen! Just the right amount of color - I love those romantic thoughtful days! I am so very glad you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Your kitchen is gorgeous! I could spend plenty of time there. :) I have 3 of Janet Hill's prints. They are so pretty and the colors are just right for your house too!
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen, so charming. Thank you for sharing...
ReplyDeleteAh, this was the beginning of it all-- our love affair with Poppy's kitchen! Your choice of that round wood table in the space was inspired. I don't why it's just right, but it is.
ReplyDeleteUntil a couple of years ago I had a retro 1950s look kitchen and thought I'd love it forever, then a new pink sofa that sat very near to the kitchen spoiled it all. Thankfully my kitchen winds around in a strange way, all of it connected by the black and white checkerboard tiles so I was able to relocate all my red elsewhere and still enjoy it.
But I finally figured out that your white and red kitchen uses red so much more judiciously than I did and it has the effect of being a very cheery English cottage kitchen but bathed in that Mediterranean light that you never seen in England. (I know, you're from Canada and now Greece, but it still reminds me of England.) And it doesn't look kitchen-y. It does look as if you took a piece of furniture here and there and put them together and a kitchen was made. Those are my very favorite kinds of kitchens, Poppy!
I am so glad to have met you!
