I love teapots. Have a thing for teacups, too. Tea, not so much. Don't get me wrong, I like the stuff, just don't love it. To tell you the truth, I find it a tad bland. And so, in order to brave a brew, I add a touch of milk to tolerate its ilk. Sans sugar. Strange, I know.
I guess what I crave most about teatime is all the crockery that comes with the territory! Who can resist the infinite number of patterns, some playful, others posh. Selecting a particular style is another fashionable feat in itself. Would you give trendy a try, or remain a true traditional?
My favourite teapot, a gift from my sister
Personally, I tend to favour a country/cottage blend, steeping with heritage hues and sweet scenes of the simple life. A spoonful of whimsy and a pretty woolen cozy and tea is served. Steaming hot, with a splash of lemon or a spot of milk, slightly sour or somewhat sweet, teatime with all its little trinkets is a treasure in itself.
Not strange. I was just on eBay a few hours ago looking at... TEACUPS! I have a thing for them too. But only iced tea for this Oklahoma girl. And coffee of course. Brenda

I feel the same way! I'm not a tea drinker. My grandmother loved tea, but I love coffee. But I do love teacups and teapots and everything tea! Love your pot and teacups.

But that's the right way to drink English tea... Personally I drink Rooibos or a herbal tea, of which there are plenty out here in France. I love teapots though, and especially tea cosies!
I was never a tea drinker until I went to the UK & Ireland. The tea there is different--much nicer with a pleasant aroma and stronger taste. Now I must have my tea all winter and it warms one up from the inside out, much more thorougly than any other hot beverage. Try Barry's Irish tea, Yorkshire tea, or even London Cuppa for a much tastier cup. If you have a Marshall's or TJ Maxx, they sometimes carry the Yorkshire and London Cuppa teas. You must let them steep for about 3 minutes or so in a cozy covered, pre-warmed pot for the flavor to develop. With sugar or honey and milk it's delcious, especially with scones and jam. Growing up I hated tea! It wasn't easy to avoid "tea" in a Chinese household. But now, I absolutely love it. Especially in the fall and winter. I prefer my tea black. And yes, I love teapots, cups, waste bowls, etc. xoxo Loi

Poppy I just love your posts...your place is so bright and cheerful and your stories so interesting :) Tea: learned to drink it 'black' as a child at my grandmothers but rarely drink it now.
