I love teapots. Have a thing for teacups, too. Tea, not so much. Don't get me wrong, I like the stuff, just don't love it. To tell you the truth, I find it a tad bland. And so, in order to brave a brew, I add a touch of milk to tolerate its ilk. Sans sugar. Strange, I know.
I guess what I crave most about teatime is all the crockery that comes with the territory! Who can resist the infinite number of patterns, some playful, others posh. Selecting a particular style is another fashionable feat in itself. Would you give trendy a try, or remain a true traditional?
Personally, I tend to favour a country/cottage blend, steeping with heritage hues and sweet scenes of the simple life. A spoonful of whimsy and a pretty woolen cozy and tea is served. Steaming hot, with a splash of lemon or a spot of milk, slightly sour or somewhat sweet, teatime with all its little trinkets is a treasure in itself.

Love that tea pot and cups, lovely design, lovely colors ... oh Poppy, I love everything in your kitchen! Hugs ~ Mary
ReplyDeleteNot strange. I was just on eBay a few hours ago looking at... TEACUPS! I have a thing for them too. But only iced tea for this Oklahoma girl. And coffee of course.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Your shelves look great with all your pretty things. I am right the opposite..I love tea much more than tea pots. :)) But, I do like them, too.
ReplyDeleteOver from Sunny....
I feel the same way! I'm not a tea drinker. My grandmother loved tea, but I love coffee. But I do love teacups and teapots and everything tea! Love your pot and teacups.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week, Poppy!

I really like that teapot. I am a tea drinker, but I make it in my Keurig. I have teapots, but seldom use them...just for decoration.
ReplyDeleteBalisha
I don't really drink hot tea but I love the cups and pots too. They remind us of simpler times, I think. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of tea accessories you have!! I try to drink a little green tea every now and then .. but I too am not a huge fan of it. Coffee.. yes :)
ReplyDeleteYour colorful tea pots look so pretty against the neutrals in your home!

Your kitchen is so light bright and lovely. The tea set is so very sweet with the little cottage scene.
ReplyDeleteΜε εντυπωσίασε η υπέροχα φωτεινή κουζίνα σου!
ReplyDeleteBut that's the right way to drink English tea... Personally I drink Rooibos or a herbal tea, of which there are plenty out here in France. I love teapots though, and especially tea cosies!
ReplyDeleteCute sets! I don't drink tea or coffee! I know--weird!
ReplyDeleteI liked me too the teapots ! I impressed for your bright kitchen and this cute tea set is wonderful !Have a nice Sunday !
ReplyDeleteLove your shelves and that adorable tea set!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
I was never a tea drinker until I went to the UK & Ireland. The tea there is different--much nicer with a pleasant aroma and stronger taste. Now I must have my tea all winter and it warms one up from the inside out, much more thorougly than any other hot beverage. Try Barry's Irish tea, Yorkshire tea, or even London Cuppa for a much tastier cup. If you have a Marshall's or TJ Maxx, they sometimes carry the Yorkshire and London Cuppa teas. You must let them steep for about 3 minutes or so in a cozy covered, pre-warmed pot for the flavor to develop. With sugar or honey and milk it's delcious, especially with scones and jam.

Through MHC's Favorite Thing, I've just "met" a blogger from New Zealand and now from Crete! I can't get over having the ability to "visit" around the world from my computer. Nice to meet you, Poppy!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful that looks!! All the colors are gorgeous.I love the way you placed everything on your shelves.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Your colourful collection of crockery is so pretty and evokes that beautiful and sunny place in which you live.
ReplyDeleteBeing English, I drink tea all the time - I'd find it hard to live without a cup of Earl Grey (or two or three), but I'm a bit of a heathen and take it with milk !
Growing up I hated tea! It wasn't easy to avoid "tea" in a Chinese household. But now, I absolutely love it. Especially in the fall and winter. I prefer my tea black. And yes, I love teapots, cups, waste bowls, etc.

ReplyDeleteLove how you displayed you tea cups! It gives me an idea.
ReplyDeleteOops wasn't done just yet...I was going to say how much I love herbal tea..the only thing is that it must be below 60 in order for me to drink it...it's too hot here
ReplyDeleteSomething is wrong here it's publishing when I'm not finished so sorry! Have you tried tea de manzanilla? Very good for cramps...
ReplyDeleteYour cupboard with the tea time treasures is so pretty to look at; it makes the room so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteI love the creamy yellow in your kitchen.

i'm not a tea person too but when it comes to teacups and mugs it's a whole different story...i think you can never get enough...and like you i'm not into the trendy stuff....
ReplyDeleteyour teapot is super cute!!!!

Hi Poppy,
ReplyDeleteIt's very nice to meet another Canadian blogger although you are now living in Greece! I love all your tea things and your cabinet looks lovely with all those pieces displayed so nicely. I am visiting from Kathy's Delightsome Life and I invite you to stop by and say Hello. Have a beautiful day.
Blessings,
Sandi
I'm following your blog and hope to visit often. :)
ReplyDeleteYour favorite teapot is really adorable! A hint on tea: if you find it bland, try a flavored version. For example, I love pumpkin chai tea. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHi Poppy,
ReplyDeleteI love how you have displayed your china.I think tea time is soothing to the soul.
Carolyn
Poppy I just love your posts...your place is so bright and cheerful and your stories so interesting :)
ReplyDeleteTea: learned to drink it 'black' as a child at my grandmothers but rarely drink it now. If I drink iced tea, I want it sweet. Coffee is my morning beverage of choice ( sweet with sugar and creamer ) and water for the rest of the day, basically. But I agree...the teapots and cups etc that go with tea are so wonderful and I just love the one that your sister gifted you with!
Visiting your link-up :) I love the idea of your tea cupboard, what a dream! Having tea with milk only isn't strange; it's very British!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like tea, you might like herbal tisanes instead?
Take care!
Hi Poppy! Love all the color in your post. The teapot/set is too cute! Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteI love your colorful kitchen cupboard! It's so bright and cheery as are your fun teapot and teacups! No worries if you don't like tea so much. You can have fun collecting the tea pots and cups and drink WHATEVER your favorite beverage is!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!

Hello Poppy,
ReplyDeleteI visited your blog today - I saw you on 'Note Songs.' You have such a charming blog, and I love tea time too. My daughter visited Greece a couple of years ago and loved everything about it - the people, the culture, the food. I am part Greek myself. Me and my daughters also have a blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. I would enjoy coming back to visit with you. Your blog is lovely, and very colorful and cheerful to me. I hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day.

Hi Poppy!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet arrangement...with all your tea pretties snuggled up side by side. I'm like you about tea drinking...and, much more fond of coffee. I like something with a bit more of a kick than tea. But, oh, the fun of sipping tea in pretty teacups. I guess when it comes right down to it...I love playing tea party! Your cottagey touches are such a delight and I love...love...love visiting your cozy blog. You always have a touch of red and that tickles me pink!
Blessings and Merry Christmas!

looooooooove your teacups!!!!! angie from germany
ReplyDeletewho could RESIST visiting :) You always have such nice posts, both in words and pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother drank tea "black" and that is how I drink it. But I only have it occasionally and later in the day so it is decaf.
It is COFFEE that gets me going in the morning ! :)
I like the pictures of your house in this post.
ReplyDeleteToo funny, I am just like you with tea! I love teapots and even some teacups, but not too crazy over tea. I really have to be in the mood for it. I'm more of a coffee drinker though. Anyway, your kitchen arrangement is just gorgeous! Love the colors and the vignettes. Cute teapot from your sister, too.
ReplyDeleteI loveyour tea serving shelf. I drink tea all through the day and you've got me to thinking this is what I need!
ReplyDeleteI've become a follower-I'm so interested in hearing more about your life in Crete1
I love the tea set........
