Our guest bedroom is probably the quietest room in the house.
Calm colours painted on porcelain plates,
reveal hidden islands in the haze,
and mountain peaks that pierce the sky.
Smaller than the other bedrooms,
it feels like a happy, little cubbyhole,
tucked away, in a flowery meadow, or nestled in a pile of leaves.
A cozy cradle of calm,

Remember that one. I wonder why.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Mrs. P!
Sincerely yours,
JC
You've created a beautiful, welcoming spot for some fortunate someone. I imagine a series of "someones" will enjoy the room.
ReplyDeleteI also like the vibrancy of your cousin's painting, Poppy.
Here's hoping you have an equally vibrant week.
-Karen
You are such a brave soul, compared to me. I am so afraid to use bright colours in our home and when I do, the sun fades them fast away. These are but another beautiful share of brightness that would bring sunshine in to a home even on a rain spent afternoon~
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely room for a guest to stay in. The room is so bright and cheerful and the view is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I bet your guests just love it there. The room is beautiful and the view is too.
ReplyDeleteI love the views from your home! The bedroom is a sweet little retreat. I really like your cousins painting as well. I hope you are enjoying this Sunday (or is it already Monday on Crete?).
ReplyDeletePoppy, it is a lovely room. Waiting for one of your guest. The paintings are lovely. Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness your cousin IS talented...what a lovely painting!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, Poppy! In my very first apartment, I had a similar brass bed. Brings back fond memories of my very first grown up place. Your cousin's painting is beautiful and full of wonderful texture and colors. I want to be a guest :)

Between all of the cheery fabrics, paintings (love your cousin's painting!), homey touches, and I'm sure, hospitality to match, I would think your guests would feel so comfortable, they wouldn't want to leave! And that view!!!! Your guests are very lucky people, Poppy!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of Autumn! Beautiful mosaics my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi, what a pretty guest bedroom! Thanks for sharing those beautiful pics. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteJulie
I'd stay there in a heart beat.
ReplyDeleteVery nice room and such beautiful views! I think I would like to be your guest!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that lampshade and the curtains!

What a pretty room. I'm sure that it must make all your guests very happy to see it for the first time. That view.....wow!
ReplyDeleteSweet room . . . wonderful views . . . I 'll invite myself as a guest some day.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a peaceful and beautiful place to be a guest!!! Wish I could come visit!

So beautiful...
ReplyDeleteSuch vibrant and colorful room fro some lucky guests! Really charming with heart and soul!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely start into the new week and greeting to this unique part of the world called Creta!
Love the colors and what a great room for a guest. The views are stunning.

Good Morning Poppy, I would not describe your guest room as a cubby hole, I would describe it as a haven. It looks so peaceful and tranquil and it would be a pleasure for anyone who sleeps in the room.
ReplyDeleteYour cousin Elaine is certainly a talented artist, I love the vibrant painting. It certainly reminds me of walking through fallen leaves, which by the way is beginning to happen here in England.
Have a lovely day Poppy.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Awww...I would love to be the guest to sleep in that fancy cubby hole, with the view like that it's more like a five star hotel only better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Poppy for visiting my blog, hope you enjoyed the poppies.
Have a wonderful week soaking in the colours of autumn
absolutely charming! wonderful room for guests!
ReplyDeletePoppy
ReplyDeleteYour guest room is just as cherry as the rest of your home.
My goodness, the view is fabulous!!
Oh no, I meant cheery!
ReplyDeletePoppy, the room is as vibrant as you are! Beautiful post . . .as always.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet wee cubbyhole! I can see this in a tiny book by Beatrix Potter for one of her littlest friends. I can easily picture the cubbyhole done in watercolors with the precious lamp--did you embellish it yourself?--that darling ceiling fixture and the painting, not to mention the serendipitous Van Gogh poppy poster! To retreat there as the sun disappeared and night fell, your guest would sleep ever so soundly. And then she would wake up, rub the sleep from her eyes and step to the window to pull back the blue gingham and flowered curtains to see that view below! Soon though she would sniff the air and smell Greek coffee and something baking and rush to find Poppy. Heavenly!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty room. Any guest would be honored to sleep there. I love everything but I think my favorite item is the lampshade. It's so intricate and beautiful and I just love the colors.
ReplyDeleteIt always seems as sunny in your house as outside, you really capture the warmth of Greece in your home. I love the gingham and floral curtains, what a lovely room to stay in.
ReplyDeleteI love your guest room! Let's see, how long will it take me to get from Arizona to Crete?
ReplyDeleteCubby hole? I don't think so. It's a charming, vibrant haven that reflects your warm spirit and that of it's surroundings. So very, very, pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I visited the Grand Canyon it looked fake. Just like a scene out of a spaghetti western.
ReplyDeleteLooking out your windows is much the same. So vast and inspiring.

ReplyDeleteOh you would have a hard time getting rid of me! What a lovely cozy bedroom. Love the ruffles on the pillowcase and the view. I could sit on the bed and look at the view for hours!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty this guestbedroom is. And with the flowers in the vase. Lovely! I am imagining your home is just beautiful somewhere in Crete. I wish I could go there someday. I heard nice things about it. Thanks you for sharing.
