My new nook!
Behind a red and white gingham shade,
hangs a flaky and dry garlic braid,
where there once
was a teapot and thyme,
and fruit bursting
with the colour of wine!
hangs a flaky and dry garlic braid,
where there once
was a teapot and thyme,
with the colour of wine!
Lately, a landscaped cookie jar of a home,
(proving even too small for a gnome),
could be found in this space,
until...
herb bouquets
and papery braids
arrived,
along with yellow corn,
and checks that adorn
nearby windows -
gateways to a season
in bloom,
seen from the nook
of my pale, yellow room.
Thanks for visiting!

So pretty, I'd love to make a garlic braid someday. Your home is so lovely, I love the bright cheery colors and that red and white shade is perfection! But that view is breathtaking..
ReplyDeleteDid you make that garlic braid? Love the poetic post. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! No, my husband bought it from a local farmer. He was making his rounds, here in the surrounding villages and came in to the village cafe, where the men like to have their afternoon coffee while debating politics, and some of them wanted to show some support and bought a few braids. I remember, while growing up, we had those decorative ceramic garlic cloves/braids in our kitchen and now, living in the country, the real thing hangs from a hook!
DeleteHi Poppy! I love you happy posts! Your home is welcoming, warm, and filled with love:) Your home and colors are the perfect backdrop for the beautiful spot in which you live. Enjoy the start to a new week!!

Love that cheerful gingham shade and pretty display! I grew garlic last year but never braided it. Also love the garden view. You have such amazing light!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Poppy, Do you know what I love about your blog? It always makes me smile when I arrive and it is full of beautiful bright colours.
ReplyDeleteThe pomegranates hanging look delicious.... I remember as a child, living in Cyprus, when pomegranates were in season, my dad used to cut them in half and I used to sit and eat the seeds by poking a pin into the seeds and pulling them out (I know parents would not allow that now, but we all did it).
I have never seen such a huge braid of garlic, they all look fat and juicy, just perfect for cooking.
Poppy, thank you for brightening my day.
Best Wishes
Daphne
this is just too cute!!! :) I love the landscaping! :)
ReplyDeleteI made a garlic braid once at the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, CA. Unfortunately I used it! I never thought of hanging pomegranates! Beautiful scene of the gate outside. Thanks for posting your pictures!

ReplyDeleteSuch a cute post! Love the poetry tied into the pictures of your dried herbs and the garlic. That is a cute way to use that hook rack. The yellow lamp and it's cute red and white shade are so cute. Enjoyable post!
ReplyDeletePoppy, thanks for stopping my blog. I love the views from your house! Years ago we lived on Cyprus while my husband was in the US Navy. I never got to visit Crete, but everyone on Cyprus talked about what a wonderful place it was.
