While visiting the Vosakou Monastery,
near the city of Rethymno,
and the village of Agios (Saint) Thomas,
a small settlement in our own prefecture,
streams of gentle sunlight bathed the landscape
Wishing you all a serene and sunny week!

I think I'll just linger here in Greece for awhile, Poppy, and bask in the streaming sunshine. It looks like the light is pouring down in the first photograph and washing the monastery with its warm glow. Some places were built to last.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, all. Thank you for joining us at Sunlit Sunday.

I can feel the warmth from your photos Poppy ... it looks like such a lovely place to live. I love seeing the wonderful plants and vegetation. It is dull and dreary here in Ontario, Canada. I'm dreaming of spring :)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful places you have to visit Poppy. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Gorgeous! The first photo is just magical with its rainbow of light. You live in such beautiful surroundings ... so peaceful to look at!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful images, Poppy! I really like the first one with the sunburst. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteSuch warm photos and a tonic for the heart and mind. The colours are gorgeous! Have a wonderful week x
ReplyDeleteOh what beautiful and restful photos....... -happy sigh-
ReplyDeleteTessa~
Poppy, I always love your pictures. The textures of your environment create such a draw for me. Maybe it's that it's much different from Virginia. Yes, a happy and radiant Sunday!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous and I agree with Linda (Crafty Gardener), your pictures radiate warmth! Hope you have a great week. : ) xx

Oh my goodness- I'm jealous of the gorgeous sun you have there! Your photo's are all lovely but the first one is my favorite. I bet the air smells wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteAhh...your sunshine is just glorious. We are stuck in some gloomy cloudy weather here. It was a treat to scroll through your beautiful photos filled with sunshine!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, nice and cheerful
ReplyDeleteThey certainly don't build them like this anymore. Built to last and make us happy every time we have the pleasure of gazing upon these gorgeous structures.
ReplyDeleteYou know something Poppy? I would be a bit concerned if I were you. How can anything in the afterlife be as lovely as what you are blessed to see nearly every day?! Nope. Not possible. Someone needs to figure out a way for you to live forever,
Nice to meet a blogger from so far away; lovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love the cacti in the sunlight and they are huge too! The scenery at the monastery is beautiful. I hope you are having a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteCould I just sit on a stone step for a few minutes - perhaps under that glorious pink flowering vine? You live in an earthly paradise!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a gorgeous place you live!
ReplyDeleteHi Poppy! The sunshine is lovely streaming through the greens and flowers. Seattle is very cold, dark, and rainy at this time of year.. with occasional ice and snow. I light lots of candles and always have fresh flowers to bring in a little flower power;) Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos!

Good Morning Poppy, If I close my eyes, I can feel the sun on my face. It is so lovely to be able to enjoy such beautiful photographs. Even though the Chinese Lanterns have faded, they look so lovely as at this time of the year, here in England, there are no flowers to enjoy..... but soon there will be, as I noticed this morning that my snowdrops are peeking through the ground.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day Poppy.
Best Wishes
Daphne
I love coming to your blog. It is so horrible here where we live right now for a lot of reasons. Seeing all the sunshine in your pictures just makes me feel little better and I think I can even feel the warmth of the sun on my skin.
ReplyDeleteYou've brightened this cloudy day in the Seattle area Poppy with this post. Love the sunlight of Crete - no matter what the season or time of day!
ReplyDeleteA grey day here, so am enjoying all the greenery in your shots ... and blessed sunshine :) The sun did pop out briefly and I thought it would melt some more ice, but clouds have slunk across it and left us a little chilled again. But it does feel spring-like outdoors ... you know, that first day when you sense a change in the air? Have a great week Poppy, Wendy x
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I love your photos of beautiful plants and sunny scenes. It's sunny here today but very cold and windy. I really enjoyed your bright and cheery post.
ReplyDeletethere is a quality of light.

Wishing us that too, but there's not much chance !
ReplyDeleteStill it's lovely to come here and day dream, beautiful photos Poppy.
Poppy, I just adore the picture of those red flowers against the white wall. I can almost feel the sunshine on my face! Thanks for the "warmth"!

ReplyDeleteLove your beautifull pictures!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeletelovely Greece. i love all the great color.
ReplyDeleteOOO, Poppy, these photos are so wonderful and so perfect for note cards....I love them all.
ReplyDelete"...soothing radiance of hope". What a beautiful phrase! Beautiful photographs, too!
ReplyDeleteThese are all great note cards! I especially like the sunbeams shining down and the rainbow at the bottom of the first one. And also the flowers growing up the wall on the 2nd one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my note cards and your nice comment.
Oh it looks so warm and inviting. I'd love to sit a spell.
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy....such a lovely, sun-filled box of note cards! If those wouldn't bring joy to someone's life, nothing could. Have blessed rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely to see the sunshine in your photos. I can almost feel its warmth, but not quite. The bougainvillea climbing up the wall reminds me of our garden in Ecuador. Such a colourful plant. Your photos are certainly note-card worthy. You are blessed to live in such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy, for sure your note cards are Blessed Beauty! What lovely, colorful, sunshiny photos you've shared with us.
ReplyDeleteSuch beauty and warmth in your note cards! I'll take 2 boxes! :)

They are indeed serene, and yet they are so colorful at the same time. Amazing how that can be! My very favorite is the last one. I don't know what that plant is. I've never seen anything like it around here.

Hi Debbie,
DeleteThanks for your lovely comment. Re: your curiosity about the flowers, those pretty little pops of colour are called Chinese Lanterns. Not sure if they grow in the States, but I do know that Crete has a similar climate to California, so they might thrive there.
Have a lovely day!
Poppy
Hi Poppy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post filled with the warmth of your countryside. The Chinese lanterns are wonderful! I have seen lanterns before but these are so plump and pretty. Thank you for sending a little warmth our way at my HOME and enjoy the rest of your week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Wow! These are gorgeous my friend! They would make beautiful cards to send to those that need cheering up. They make me happy just to see them! I love that you share your part of the world with all of us! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy, such beautiful pictures - makes you feel like you are right there. Yes the Chinese Lanterns do go in Southern California.

ReplyDeletePoppy, forgive me but I am so behind on my blog reading! I'm just catching up on this lovely post, and that first photo took my breath away! It's a blessing to flowers blooming and rays of sunshine on a winter day!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous pictures Poppy. It just takes me away from cold weather and to a new place of beautify. Thanks for sharing.
