A Winnie the Pooh 'Windsday'

 from my bedroom balcony

 The last time we spoke,
the sun was out, the day was bright
and Poppy View was adorned with light.

 But tonight as I type,
a howling wind is on the prowl.
Fierce and voracious, it roars and growls,
eager to pluck and snatch and sweep
its light and innocent prey off their tiny feet!
And NOT for love!

I hope all the little creatures find
a sturdy place to which the wind is blind,

from my terrace

to spend the night, safe and sound,
until that ferocious squall's no longer around!

from my terrace
 Now, I ask you,
where's that wandering Winnie when you really need him?

  1. It is still Tuesday here, but the weather is horrible. Freezing temperatures and snow all for the eastcoast of the US.

  5. Hello Poppy,

I love the play on words "Windsday" I shall think of that when next the wind blows. I hope by now the wind has subsided and all is well in our wonderland.
Thanks for your visit and wishing you sunshine

  7. This is just darling (and beautiful pictures as always!!). Winnie The Pooh takes me back to the years when I was a young mom. Such a wonderful cast of characters and beautiful story line.

Hope your week is going well Poppy!

  8. We had a Windsday last week and it was scary!! I walked to school to bring my daughter home and I couldn't help but think a branch could break and fall on us. I loved the second paragraph (or is a verse more proper here?) about the wind sweeping prey off their feet. That was very well written, friend! Have a happy day :-)

  10. It is rather a blustery Windsday in hundred acre woods and a blustery day in Poppy's wonderful world. Sending some sunshine your way dear friend.

  11. Sounds like a Windsday that at least would be fun with you around to entertain. We are having continued brutally COLD weather in KY, and in Atlanta, GA, over 900 accidents last evening from a Winter snow storm, which they never get...yes send me the wind please ;)

And remember reading 'Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day' to my oldest Granddaughter. :-)))))))

thank you for sweet Winnie the Pooh memories.

And thank you for your lovely photos and whimsical prose.

  17. Poppy you have the most beautiful views in your area. The wind was horrible here a few nights ago. It played tricks in the night. Turning over the garbage can, etc. Enjoy that sun.

  22. Catching up on your posts, Poppy, and they are all wonderful! Yes, we had a windy Windsday here, but then we often have wind out on the Great Plains. I enjoyed the video! I have the same Mary Englebreit address book in your previous post! And you are such a pretty lady! Blessings, Bess

  23. We have had so many Windsdays here in the states lately, Poppy and it's getting a little tiresome. I love your perspective on things, always able to see the light side of life. I mean if Winnie the Pooh is involved it must be good! :) I'll try to keep him (and you!) in mind the next time the wind starts to blow! :) Kim

  24. I have heard that Crete can get some whoppers when it comes to wind; is this true? It has continued to be gray and cold and icy here but by the weekend on Sunday it is supposed to be near 70 F --what extremely different weather patterns we are having here in SC! I have a gold old sore throat so I am taking it very easy!

  25. I meant good old---and it came out gold old.....hmmmmmmmmmmmm

  26. It matters not that the winds are blowing in Crete, for if it has Ms. Poppy, the day is sunny and bright.

  27. Very cute post! I love how you tied it all together with Winnie!! Yes, we have had bitter cold windy days here in the northeast of the US. It is warm here today at 35 degrees!

  28. Very cute play on words..ain't Pooh clever! I hope you haven't been blown away by now. You pics are breathtaking and looking at the wide open lay of the land I suppose a wind could really get to rolling.

Beautiful picture from a beautiful person, do have a wonderful weekend!

  29. Poppy,
You know this wind is all over the universe-I remember a time when the wind went down with the Sun and now it howls relentlessly throughout the days and nights. It tosses us here and there and ruins our hair!
I have always, enjoyed Winnie the Pooh and his sweet escapades.
Have a lovely weekend dearest Poppy~
    Love,
    Jemma

  33. OH, Pooh Bear! I haven't thought of him, or of Eyore (so?) in an age!

Your view is so amazing - how I would love to visit you. It'd be a dream come true.

  37. It's Sunday evening here and there's no wind. I even worked in the yard a little, cleaning up some of the garden beds in preparation for spring. But it's supposed to get colder this week again. Lovely collages and a really fun post, Poppy.

    1. Hi there!

If you see this reply to your comment above, please let me know. I tried all of your contact features, including trying to comment on your red chair makeover, on your blog, but there was no such place to do so when I clicked on the button! Your chair turned out beautifully, love the fabric and the red shade you chose; simply wonderful!

  39. I love Winnie the Pooh and isn't the animation adorable.
I think you're getting the end of our storms, that pass by Magali's place on the way (I think you know Magali and her blog, in France !).
Actually I love the sea when it is stormy, but it's still so hard imagining all the people with flooded houses and all the farms that have lost livestock and the poor wild animals in the West of Britain.
