Fresh flowers, fragrant and pretty, never smelled so sweet.
Mom's apartment: pretty 'wallflowers' keeping each other company |
This year, there were many reasons to celebrate Mother's Day.
To start, it was the first time in fifteen years
that I had the chance to spend it with my mom and my sister,
and eight years, since I last spent it with my daughter.
From left: my daughter, Liberty, with my mom, Rita, mom again, me, and my sister, Cindy. |
This year,
Mother's Day was as it should be:
full of flowers, hugs, and smiles,
undeterred by meddling miles!
How did you spend Mother's Day?
Thanks for visiting!
xo
Poppy
P.S. Promise to visit you all very soon!

Glad that you have been able to be home with them this year :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for you to be able to spend it with your mom, sister and daughter! We need to cherish those moments. My mom's been gone for 22 years now.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the best way to spend Mother's Day, Poppy! I am sure that you will always cherish that time! I spent it at home with family, including my mom who was able to leave the nursing home for a brief time. I am not sure how much longer her body will allow her to be moved, so having her home, was truly a gift! :)
ReplyDeleteA really nice treat for you all to be together this year then! My mother's been gone for three years, but this year was a nice day spent with my daughter cleaning out her backyard patio. Wendy x

ReplyDeleteafter my marriage i always lived far apart from my mother. 1200 miles.
ReplyDeleteand she was always my best friend until the day she died. she died when i was 26.
in retrospect now... i would not allow those miles to happen. i would find a way to live closer.
life is too short.
i thought the picture of liberty was you actually... you look so alike!
i'm so glad you had this time with these special women in your life. and yes... as everyone said...
i say too... the wall with those special plates is simply beautiful!
as are you dearest poppy. XOXO

And Liberty is a carbon-copy of you my dear friend. Hope you are enjoying your time in Canada with your whole family. Thank you for leaving your very kind and sweet message. Im so touched!
ReplyDeleteTake care and love,

What a treat for you to spend time with these beautiful women in your family, Poppy. Seeing a bit of your mom's apartment, I wonder if it from her that you picked up a love of colour and florals that you have in your own home. I guess the time for you to return to Greece must be near.
ReplyDeleteWishing you well,
Karen
Forgive me for not commenting sooner my friend! Life continues to be super busy, but that is no excuse.
ReplyDeleteMy heart rejoices to know you spent a very special day with very special people! I know how much you've missed your family, and from the looks on your beautiful faces, you all had a much deserved fabulous day.

ReplyDeleteThose miles really do meddle with life, don't they? I am so glad you had a happy day with your girls (mom, daughter, sister). It is one mother's day you'll remember forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful feeling that must have been! Three generations together for the first time in a long time - I'm sure there were tears as you all celebrated Mothers' Day together. I've missed so many of your posts, but have just had a lovely time looking back and catching up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful wall of plates! And wow! It must have been a very special mother day for all three generations!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you all got to spend the day together!

I apologize for being so late to visit and enjoy your share of your special day. WOW what a long time to have waited to share such precious memories and yet now it must have been so worth it. You, your daughter, mom and sister are all so beautiful and look so radiantly happy. The flowers are so gorgeous too. I had a wonderful day as well, still celebrating, as could not see all 3 on the special day.

Please forgive my late visiting to see your recent posts! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day with whole family! So glad to read about this "joie de vivre", about the gathering visit with your family, most important, your mom and daughter, your sister, as well - and friend Laura, too!! And so beautiful and colorful buildings in the post dedicated to them (by the way, I must say that my fave is the one in red with a large and cosy terrace on the right corner... it may looks like a dream home!!)! Thanks so much for sharing them and Have a great week ahead! All the best, Poppy! Alexa T
