This is part of our friend, Laura's, front porch, which belongs
to her multi- vendor antique and consignment shop, which
my sister, Cindy and I, had the pleasure of visiting this spring.
Antiques on Hwy 48, in the township of Baldwin, Ontario, houses
a collection of amazing items that welcome you at the door.
'Come on in, take a look around, and find that
special treasure you've been looking for. That's
our relaxed, down-home philosophy.', says Laura.
She proudly points out, 'We have two floors of
antiques, collectibles, furniture, vintage jewellery,
vinyl, advertising memorabilia, primitives,
lace and linens, cameras, radios, coin and paper money,
vintage housewares, sports memorabilia,
paintings, Jadeite, Fiesta,

gold and silver, gas and oil advertising, pottery, ephemera,
oddities, one of a kinds, and a lot more really cool stuff!'. This pie
steam vent is both adorable and practical; I'd never seen one before!
When the chicks in this charming painting clucked spoke to me,
Laura asked if 'they' would fit in my suitcase. Needless to say,
these three stowaways will soon grace my living room mantel,
reminding me of the fun and fabulous day we spent together,
on that cool and sunny, April morning.
If you're ever in Baldwin, make sure to visit Antiques on Hwy 48,
where the unique and wonderful await their fate!
Stay tuned for Part Two of Laura's Lovelies; a
beautiful tour of Laura's neighbourhood, and more!
Thank you, Laura, for the pretty painting,
and a day that proved most entertaining!
and a day that proved most entertaining!
Thanks for visiting,
xo

ReplyDeleteI love places like that. It is always such fun, especially if you go with a family member, or friend. I have certainly brought home some collectibles in my day and now I may have to sell a few pieces, over crowed look these days...have so much dusting to do...sigh, but I love those old treasures~

W Baldwin pewnie nie będę, ale taki sklep z antykami chętnie bym odwiedziła. Piękny obraz z kurkami dostałaś, pozdrawiam:)
ReplyDeleteHello Poppy:
ReplyDeleteIt is probably just as well that Laura's store is not around the corner as, looking at these images and reading what you say, we should never be out of it!! What a fantastic treasure trove. And did you really restrict yourself to the cockerels, or were other splendid items slipped into your suitcase?
Lots of treasures in there...I was especially taken with that beautiful glassware!
ReplyDeleteOh wow I love shops like that...I love to browse and eventually find a treasure...can't wait for part two.
ReplyDeleteI love your find...how many more things are you stowing away home? looks like you had a wonderful visit with your family...memories made to fill your heart!

Now that is my kind of place!! I could spend hours there. Congrats on your lovely new find!! Can't wait for part 2 :)
ReplyDeleteLaura's antique shop looks like a fun place to spend a few hours just poking around. How wonderful that you were able to visit there with your sister. The rooster print is exactly what I would be taking home to.
ReplyDeleteI love antique stores, and that one looks wonderful! Those kinds of places are so fun to poke around and explore. Love the painting you found - can't wait to see how it looks on your mantle.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is just my kind of place! I'd have such fun browsing in this store! I really like the print you chose, too, and when I first saw it I thought I'd buy that! I love chickens and roosters and have a few around my kitchen. Hope you show us when you get it on your mantle! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just LOVE shops like that?! Such fun to browse and imagine the life each treasure experienced before finding it's way to the shop. I visited a place like this last week and it was the highlight of my day.
ReplyDeleteI love that you're bringing the roosters home Poppy! That last landscape painting is lovely too, but I'm a sucker for anything showcasing some water ;)
Hi Doreen,
DeleteThat last 'landscape' is actually a photo I took of Lake Simcoe! Thanks so much for thinking it was a painting; I'm flattered!:)
xx
Poppy
I love that those little chicks are going to travel all the way to Greece and "roost" in your home there! That store looks like my kind of place to browse!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Ontario! What a great trip for you and your sister. Love antique adventures:) Pinning! Found you via the Gday link Party.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great shop, I'd love to be able to explore it properly.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to have a black bird pie vent. Unfortunately I don't know what happened to it, as I'd dearly love to own it now.
That must have been such a lot of fun. While I love the west coast, sometimes on a Saturday afternoon I'll long for Ontario and the many small towns, back roads and the antique shops on both!
ReplyDeleteOh no Poppy I had my eyes on that roosters painting. Never mind, I'm sure I will see them in one of your posts. I wish Laura isn't that far away. I would visit her regularly.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend my dear.
Hugs,
Aida
What treasures you found and what a lovely post to share them with us! Hugs to you~ Jackie
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure trove!! I would love to visit one day
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Poppy, You are having so much fun. Your friend Laura's emporium looks like the sort of place I would love to visit. There is so much to see, but it would be so hard for me to decide what to buy. How kind that Laura gifted you the rooster picture, it is lovely. When you return to Crete and place it above your mantlepiece, your heart will flood with happiness, because it will remind you of your visit.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes to you,
Daphne
you know . . . even minimalist that i am . . . i dearly love strolling through shops like this one.
ReplyDeletei love the old vintage glass milk bottles! from the days they actually delivered milk to your door!
can you imagine that today? just too many people now. it would be chaos! LOL.
looking forward to more of your visit in that wonderful land.
was wondering about prince richard. i hope he's not missing you too much! he won't realize you're coming back! xo
Hello dear Poppy
ReplyDeleteOoh this is my kind of shop - just as well I wasn't with you or I could have spent a fortune, that I don't have!!
I spied a couple of things on the verandah I loved.
When you get home you'll be so happy you made these purchases as they will always be reminders of your lovely trip home and happy times spent with family and friends!
There's just nothing nicer than those memories is there.
hugs
Shane
Hello Poppy, what a fun time spent with your sister.. The shop is awesome so many treasures to look thru, I am sure it would take awhile.. I love the three chicks painting, it will lovely in your home..Thanks for sharing, have a happy week!
ReplyDeletePoppy, very funny that you singled out the painting of the chickens. As I saw it, I thought to myself, I would like to buy that painting. I have a soft spot for anything chicken. I brought home a metal chicken from Key West a few months ago.
ReplyDeletePoppy...what a treat to see where you had the opportunity to shop! I was sold on the picture just outside the doors. Heavenly...so many treasures. It's very hard to shop when you have only one suitcase. I've tried to ship things home and prices differ from place to place and sometimes things arrive in disarray. I have a friend that brings an empty suitcase along on trips! Ha!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your visit! I'm trying to catch up. Our trip will be loads of fun. And yes, I sound busy but that's not always the case! I like my "down" time too much! ;-)
XO,
Jane
It looks like somewhere I could spend hours and hours -- Now that we are not on the road RVing full time any more, I actually have places (walls, shelves) to put stuff and so I am having fun visiting this kind of store for the first time in years and years!!
ReplyDeleteTons of fabulous treasures. I love that chicken and rooster picture. It is amazing. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
ReplyDeletePoppy I would have loved going to this wonderful Antique Barn with you ... but at least I was with you virtually! What a super buy! I can't wait to see it on your mantel! xo

ReplyDeleteHello Poppy [again]:
ReplyDeleteJust a very brief line to thank you so much for your very kind comment on our most recent post. We have replied but because of the number of comments it is necessary to click on 'Load More' [and possibly twice] to bring up every one.
The porch of this special place is wonderful - I probably could spend some time there alone before venturing inside!
ReplyDeleteThat shop is on my list of place to see when I'm in the area now. Of course I love the chicken art. I would have fought you for that one!
ReplyDeleteI'd say that Laura has a dream job. What a fun shop! I recognized all kinds of goodies in your photos. And since I have seen your mantel, I can say with some authority that your new chickie print is going to look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteShe has such an awesome place - I could spend a long time there! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
