If I Were a Storybook Character

Hurst Bakery, Aurora, Ontario

When I walk into a shop that makes me feel
as if I'm stepping straight into a storybook, well,
let's just say I become somewhat animated, myself!

A beautiful neighbourhood in Aurora, Ontario

In storybook land, all the roads are paved with
pastel pretties, to detain us from our intended
destination, thus creating some scented suspense!

When we finally do get there, we don't want
to leave, for the messy array of trinkets on
the vintage stove stops us in your tracks!

Not to mention the irresistible display of decadence
that suddenly has me walking on air - a sweet love affair
that started with a luscious lemon square and presently
knows no end to all things coconut and creamy!

And so, I turn the pages fast, quickly flipping to
the last, as I leave behind the land of sweet treats
and nostalgic eye candy.  Yet, something tells me
that the chapter on this most charming town will
continue in this storybook that I cannot put down,
until I've wandered through its entirety completely.

  4. I've been trying to decide--strawberry shortcake that was always my birthday cake, or the lemon squares, then I saw the pineapple coconut squares and that would have to be my first choice, until I return again to your storybook land, dear Poppy. Don't forget how every storybook ends, girlfriend!

  5. Poppy
You sure find the 'sweetest' places to visit!
Cherry cheese squares would be my first choice
and then a date bar for the road, of course.

  8. Whenever you come home you point out some place close to me that I just have to go visit! I'll happily live in a storybook fairytale, or even just stop by for awhile.

  9. If you were a storybook character, or shall I say fairytale character, I do believe you'd be Snow White. You do indeed look like her you know? Now, if I were hanging out with you as one of the Dwarfs, would I be Grumpy or Dopey? I suppose it would depend if I had my morning coffee ;).

Your travels have brought you to yet another lovely place Poppy, and I agree with Amy about how you framed that last picture!

  16. What a picture perfect town :) I would have stepped inside too and been transformed. Was there a sort of magical wooshing, tinkling sound as you closed the door I wonder? Such simple pleasures last a long time.

  28. Lovely photos, Poppy. I would love to be a storybook character. I think I would choose to be Anne of the Green Gables with her red hair and literary aspirations. I already know how my story would end, but never mind :-)
