The older I get, the more the four seasons fly by in a flash,
to such an extent that, during a recent, short trip on a
swing, summer's silky, green leaves morphed into
burning corals of bling!
But the skies are still blue,
and the sun is still bright,
and the pretties still bloom
in fall's midmorning light.
I trust, soon enough, cool gusts will whisper
to me autumn's secret recipe, particularly, how
it stirs that crisp, morning air with such flair
to create a mood that doesn't compare with
any other season - not even spring's.
Until then,
the skies are still blue,
and the sun is still bright,
and the pretties still bloom
in fall's midmorning light.
Wishing you all a very
Happy Wednesday,
and a wonderful week!

The words of your poetic rendering about fall are so amazing, they could be a song that one could sing! Maybe it is a song, and you are singing it? :) And the mixture of your musings about fall coupled with the amazing photos of fall, and its beautiful light... oh my! Pure joyfulness! Enjoy every.single.moment of the beautiful fall weather, what a beautiful fall it is! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post dear Poppy. You have an amazing way of telling beautiful words.. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. We normally don't have harsh winters, so Fall is the closest we get to winter here.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures. Have a great weekend.
Hugs
Mary

Hello Poppy! It is so nice to see your post! Your photos are gorgeous and I love the colours of Autumn here! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are seeing shots of colour in the trees around here too and off in the distant hills there is that faint tinge to the hardwood trees. I love houses with verandas and your photos are beautiful. We are getting tons of rain here today - over 120 mm! Have a lovely day and enjoy the fall colours. xx Pam
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos that celebrate Autumn!
ReplyDeleteAutumn in Ontario - what a treat! Gorgeous colours and much to look forward to as the year winds down - where did it go?
ReplyDeleteHello Poppy and Happy Fall.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking at the pretty fall trees and the photos.
I would love to have you share this at my blog party.

Delightful poem, Poppy, and the photos are beautiful. Oh, I love that blue house. The perfect shade of blue. You captured fall in such a lovely way. Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteOh I love this, Poppy! Your words are just as beautiful as those gorgeous photos! You are right...the crispness of the air of the beginning of fall is a glory all it's own! I am anticipating the coming "crispness" since we have been in the "tropics" the past few days...tomorrow 20 degrees less....YAY!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are having a beautiful fall. The PNW is having a gorgeous one as well. The weather is perfect. And yes, the days and seasons are flying by. I hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy I so love how you can find the beauty in everything! While I am approaching the coming winter/fall with sadness over losing summer, you again, have reminded me of its beauty! Hope you are doing well. . .hugs, Jackie

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, dear Poppy.
ReplyDeleteHello Poppy,
ReplyDeleteHappy to see you enjoying Autumn and that swing looks mighty tempting.

Your lovely words convict me that I should be opening my eyes to life's beauties before they flee, instead of only anticipating autumn, dear Poppy, but truthfully, I long for your "cool gusts." Be sure to speed them on their way south.
ReplyDeleteUntil then, I'll enjoy your pretty house pictures and try to imagine what they look like inside.

How true that the seasons go by faster and faster, as does the months, years and decades, just when we realize how much we should appreciate them, and Fall's mid morning light.

Autumn days are here, but they are not very cool yet. Still lots of sunshine and warmth. But that change in the season is coming, just as your words have said. Beautiful photos, Poppy. Have a wonderful day.

ReplyDeleteLove that line- burning corals of bling! My pretties are still blooming and the sky is a beautiful blue these days. Seems like there have been plenty of sunlit ones too! As usual I always enjoy you thoughts and images.
ReplyDeleteThose verandas are lovely, Poppy! The leaves are way ahead of ours although they will soon catch up. Our skies are heavy with rain right now but we have had a lovely September with days warm enough for the beach. You live in a beautiful place. We don't have the stark changes in seasons here in my part of the world - except maybe the bursting of the spring wildflowers. But last autumn we went to a nearby treepark to see the autumn colours - glorious ! Have a lovely week Poppy, and thank you for stopping by my blog last week. Sorry for taking a little time to get back to you.
ReplyDeleteWe have been enjoying a string of perfect days this past week..cooler, but still warm, and it is amazing to see petunias still blooming while all the pumpkins and mums are starting to make their appearances. Totally enjoying it before those cool gusts whisper!
