6:45 am, Poppy View headquarters, orange skies just before sunrise.
9:09: My feline ally, Prince Richard, the cat,
misses his wake up call for the day. So predictable.
misses his wake up call for the day. So predictable.
9:10: I leave him behind and head for the hills, as planned.
You snooze, you lose.
The Bermuda buttercups had arrived for their annual visit,
and I was curious to see how they were getting on
with their hosts, the olive trees and grapevines.
9:49: Everything seemed harmoniously fine, from a distance.
10:15: A serene scene on a canvas of blue; a pretty, pastoral view.
10:34: Up close, it was evident that our generous hosts,
indeed, had made the little buttercups feel at home,
giving them plenty of space, in which to stretch and freely roam.
11:58: At my garden gate, I am greeted with a yawn,
by a lazy companion I can never count on. Shameful.
Happy first day of March!

ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
Hello Poppy:
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing and wonderful sight of the Bermuda buttercups mixed with the vines. And such blue skies so early in the day. As for PR, utterly adorable.
Jó hétvégét!
Beautiful images. I long for Spring! PR the cat is so funny, very expressive. Mind you, if I was in his position, in the sun, I don't think I'd move! : ) x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics! I have a soft spot for big yellow cats. We have blooms in the snow quite often.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Happy First Day of March to you! I loved your almond tree pictures from a few days ago.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
DeleteThank you! So nice of you to visit! Hope you are well and are enjoying your weekend, my friend!
Take care!

DeleteThanks for taking us along, Poppy. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGood day Poppy! What beautiful photos to greet us on this very cold winter morning. The yellow buttercups are so pretty dotting the ground under the grapevines. Happy March to you! Hugs. Pam

Lovely shots. I adore your sleepy little pal!
ReplyDeleteYour walk under blue skies along buttercup carpeted ground is a lovely way to begin your day. Beautiful views that fill me with energy!
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful part of the world, in which to greet the morning. :-)
ReplyDeleteLucky, lucky you!
Please keep sharing it with us. Especially all of us, who are awaiting another snow storm. -pout-
Happy March!
Tessa~
I laugh to compare our views today. Most often, our colors are the same on our walks, but since Wednesday, it has been raining in our little part of the world. Much welcome rain - already 4 .5 inches when all of 2013 only brought us 3 inches. It will rain all day today and through tomorrow and we are content because the Sierras have snow and we will be enjoying that snow this week on a ski trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking me on a virtual walk this morning since we will be tied to the house for awhile.
A cute kitty and beautiful nature. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to believe Spring is coming in 18 days! Glad to see proof of it in your part of the world. That orange sky is stunning, and I enjoyed accompanying on your walk to the buttercups. PR is one photogenic cat! Happy March, Poppy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful morning and your walk showing all the lovely buttercups, grape vines and olive trees.
ReplyDeleteThe sky is oh so very pretty. Love your orange kitty - so pretty. I would have thought that he would have gone on a walk with you.
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
Mary
Prince Richard looks blissfully happy, wouldn't it be great to feel like that and not have a care in the world. We had a lot of sun today too, though it was still pretty cold. Thank you for sharing a lovely walk and beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful buttercups! Your cat is so cute, I love his colors and markings. He does seem lazy though. Haha. I would like to lie around in the sun for awhile myself!
ReplyDeletePrince Richard looks all cozy and comfy. We had some sunshine yesterday but today is cloudy and cold again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious sunrise, Poppy! I would like to be Prince Richard and sit in the sun all day! Sure beats the snow outside my door! ;)
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me PR never loses... Aww he is so cute! The buttercup feilds are so beautiful! Even though we have a few blooms, I am counting down the days 'til Spring. We are starting a new tradition this year! Hope you are well!
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy you made my heart race with this post. We are on countdown to Greece now. . .only a month away and you so stirred up my Cretan travel bug with the views of the olive groves and those lovely flowers! And of course I am in love with PR!
ReplyDeletePoppy - Beautiful photos as usual. Do they buttercups just grow under the grapevines and olive trees? Do you have to walk on them to pick grapes and olives? Gorgeous scenery. And just look what Prince Richard missed out on.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Hi Poppy, Your kitty is darling!! What a life, right? Those squinty little eyes are so cute and YES.. they have their schedules. Your photos are always gorgeous and the weather seems like it is always perfect. Have a nice weekend! xxleslie
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots,
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you at Seasonal Sundays.

Hi,Poppy!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed by your fabulous views. Here in Japan, spring is coming soon but we rarely have blue sky this time of the year. You have captured beautiful moments! Your yellow cat is so sweet and looks enjoy happy time in the sunlight. Your flowers on the almond tree are pretty. They look similar to sakura in Japan we have.Your happy photos put a smile on my face.
Have a nice day!
Those are some really great photos with unique combinations.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to sunny spring days. I want to go out and breath fresh air and feel the warmth of the sun on my face with warm breezes to warming my heart and soul. Until then I will be content to see the buttercups bloom beneath the grape vines and the blue skies above the beautiful countryside where you live through your beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous views and Prince Richard looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteClaire the Foster Kitty would be envious of the sunny outdoor life that Prince Richard enjoys. Then again, I would relish a walk by some buttercups in an olive grove, Poppy. Everything must be springing up with new life there. Your home area is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKaren
So pretty Poppy! Beautiful countryside- and the buttercups look so sweet. Love Prince Richard- he's a lover!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful! I'm looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteHi Poppy! I love the amazing scenery you have shared today. As a cat lover, I adore Prince Richard.....he does indeed seem to enjoy napping!
ReplyDeleteAgain you have brightened my day! Cathy
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning scenery! And your Prince Richard is simply adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan
Prince Richard is such a handsome kitty!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing....flowers as far as the eye can see! Your sweet kitty is enjoying the attention...I think! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww... Prince Richard was just so tired, Poppy! I can identify after the week I had.
ReplyDeleteLoved the buttercups. Such happy flowers!

So sweet Poppy. A cat's life is to sleep and then sleep some more.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Beautiful Poppy. I think I would join your kitty and bask in the warm sun. It has been so cold here. Have a wonderful week, hugs Jen
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! The buttercups are just lovely among the rows of olive trees. The Prince is handsome, indeed, and should not be bother unless he has requested a wake-up call! Enjoy your spectacular surroundings! Smiles...Susan
ReplyDeleteWhen I die, I want to come back as a cat. But not just any cat. Your cat! What a life PR has :). Eat, sleep, then sleep some more.
ReplyDeletePoppy, the sky photo is amazing! Prince Richard is so adorable! It's cute that he would accompany you on your walks.
ReplyDeleteOh Poppy, as I scrolled down through these images, I could ALMOST feel the warmth of the sun. The little kit-cat Sir Richard...what must it be like to sleep so purely and not be aware of much going on, allowing the warmth of the sun to just ease one into dreamland . I love the Olive orchard( we use a lot of olive oils and also grape seed oils her in our home ;) and those wonderful Buttercups that have slipped along their path are so pretty. I am so desiring to see any kind of colour in our area...I wonder if I could just make some Koolaid and sprinkle it on the snow, if it would freeze and be my garden for the day. Sigh ;) Happy Monday, Happy week Poppy~
ReplyDeletedelightful view of your first day of March. It looks like spring is well and truly on the way. But do you have snow in Crete? I really must visit the Mediterranean one day - it is on my list! Have a wonderful week. I am joining you through Mosaic Monday.
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Poppy, It was a joy to see the beautiful blue skies and the buttercups growing amongst your vines. Although you have a countdown to the beginning of Spring, it certainly looks like Spring has arrived in Crete already.
ReplyDeletePrince Richard looks like he has the most wonderful life..... lazily sleeping in the warm sunshine.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Prince Richard looks like a fine assistant - if you don't want anything done. LOL! The pictures are gorgeous! I am in great need of spring to arrive! There is sleet covering the grass here in Dallas, TX, however this past Saturday it was in the high 70's. Crazy weather this year.

Prince Richard-oh you snoozy kitty cat-missed out on it all-Poppy continues to overlook your whimsical and unpredictable ways! Do you remember the great song by The Foundations?
ReplyDeleteButtercup Baby? (probably too long ago for your youthful memory!) anyway, I am listening to it right now because of this post!!
Beautiful as always dear Poppy!

Ahhhh!!! Thanks for sharing the sunshine! Spring is definitely coming your way. Here in DC, we have yet another big snow storm - everything is closed. I am home catching up with Poppy View :) Hugs to you and Prince Richard! xo
ReplyDeleteI love buttercups! Thanks for sharing the pretty photos!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, and Prince Richard is adorable! Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY....
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
So nice pictures, both of the cat and the nature!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely spring like photos. It's cold and dark and rainy here on the south Texas coast. I am longing for some weather like yours. Prince Richard is a charmer!
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
Your photos are always so beautiful and every backdrop is superb! I don't think we gave buttercups here in the desert area (maybe in other parts of AZ), but they were prolific where we lived in Oregon. It looks like Prince Richard doesn't really care what you think of him, as long as he can bask in that gorgeous sunshine.
ReplyDeleteAh, this was cute! Thanks for the smile! It seems Prince Richard has been in company with our little Pug who is always napping and yawning at any hour of the day. Bad company does corrupt good animals... ;)
ReplyDeletePoppy, I couldn't resist *featuring* this post today at the Art of Home-Making Mondays! It really cheered me up after I had to say good-bye to a visiting relative. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteDearest Poppy, I can always count on you to lift my spirits and put a smile on my face - you truly share the most delightful posts :)
ReplyDeleteMay you have a wonderful week, my friend. Hugs!
Your cat is beautiful. And, yes, predictable. Ours is so lazy in the chilly, damp weather we're having that she will hiss if she thinks we're going to put her outside. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are real buttercups. It was funny that when we lived in Tennessee a lot of people there called daffodils "buttercups". I never could quite get used to it. :-)
