Across the Sea for Afternoon Tea

Yesterday afternoon, in a little tea room, just north of Toronto,
I had the pleasure of getting to know three lovely ladies whom I had
visited on several occasions, but had never actually met.
A curious set of circumstances, wouldn't you say?

Funnily enough, we'd been to each other's homes,
toured one another's gardens, and even journeyed
to faraway places together, yet our paths had never crossed.

Cyberspace Airways is good like that.
Automatic pilot for the armchair traveller.

From left: Karen, (My Little Home & Garden), Judith, (Lavender Cottage), me, and Jennifer, (A Garden of Threads)

So, on a blustery, but bright, April day,
we bypassed the line up of cliché  cafes,
for Victorian treats and blended bouquets,
of jasmine, lavender and some fragrant Earl Grey.

We chatted and giggled and not surprisingly, talked shop.
And on the subject of Google, swapped stories, non-stop!

We even formed our own cozy quartet,
humming harmonies about hashtags,
and forgotten passwords being reset!

Bonding via Blogger in a tiny tea house on Main Street,
my cup is full of memories of a sweet 'Meet & Greet'!

 Until next time,
I'd like to thank Jennifer, Judith, and Karen,
for a fun and fabulous Afternoon Tea!
It was a pleasure meeting you in person,
- for real, and not just virtually!

Also, thanks to the Old Curiosity Tea Shop for
a wonderful afternoon.

Have you met up with any of your blogging friends?

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Awe such a wonderful outing you must have had with these sweet ladies. Nothing so great is in having afternoon tea, mine would have been Lavender with honey. The Curiosity Tea Shop, reminds me of one we have near my home. You can also... if you dare, choose a hat, or a scarf, or boa and get in real high noon spirits...kind of fun. Did you also have the little sandwiches, and tea cakes? I am so happy that you ladies had this day~

  2. Hello Poppy:

It is especially wonderful, as clearly happened to you with Jennifer, Judith and Karen, when virtual friends, first met through blogging, become actual ones in the real world. This too has happened with us on a number of occasions and, as a result, lasting friendships have been formed. It certainly looks as if you had a really enjoyable time.

Thank you for sharing the photos Poppy.

I know this is irrelevant but my hubby is currently enjoying your beautiful country with 24 high school students and 4 other teachers, they are having a ball.

Hope you are having a good week

Thank you for organizing the tea so we could all get together. I can't believe how quickly four hours went by at the tea shop and appreciate how we had good food, service and never felt rushed.
It was a pleasure to meet you and Karen in person; wouldn't it be fun to make this an annual event. Perhaps more bloggers could join us too!
    Hugs.

  39. Hello dear Poppy
What a warm, beautifully written post!
I always feel I've learnt something and benefitted when I read your posts and visit your lovely blog.
Yours is the last post I read of the now “famous four" and it is a gem.
As you said we visit each others houses and gardens, we even know the names of grandchildren and pets and often travel together - but what a thrill to actually meet in person to sip tea together and hear each others stories!
I've met two other bloggers one a sweet and very creative Kiwi girl and the other, an Australian who is no longer blogging. She and her husband visited on a cruise ship so my husband and I drove them about Auckland to see the sights for the day!

I'm sure it's been wonderful for you visiting your homeland and catch up with your family and friends.
    Take care
    love
