The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim

Because it was grassy and wanted wear,

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I marked the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

    Congrats on your blog anniversary. We must have started around the same time! I started on May 20th. Back in April I thought I'd do a giveaway or something and ordered this and that from various bloggers. In the end I used everything for my mom's mother's day presents! :)

  16. This is so sweet Poppy and a wonderful tribute to your daughter and her accomplishments .. and Happy Birthday to her:) !! You must have so many mixed feelings, and I can relate to this as I have a 24 and 22 year old that are flying away. It's bittersweet .. I'm not sad, it's just life and the peaks will be higher and the valley's lower as time passes. Such a lovely poem Poppy, and you pictures are always so pretty.

    Best to future "roads" that you travel and your sweet daughter.

  17. Poppy,
    O My! What a lovely post filled with so much beautiful scenery!! Stunning!!

    Thanks so much for stopping by!

  18. Happy Birthday to your daughter and to wonderful Poppy View! That is one of my favorite poems, by the way, one I quote often. Such wisdom. Such beauty.

    Thanks so much for joining in this week, Poppy.

  19. Dear Poppy,

    To commemorate both occasions, I dedicate this sonnet to you:

    SONNET 91

    Some glory in their birth, some in their skill,
    Some in their wealth, some in their bodies' force,
    Some in their garments, though new-fangled ill,
    Some in their hawks and hounds, some in their horse;
    And every humour hath his adjunct pleasure,
    Wherein it finds a joy above the rest:
    But these particulars are not my measure;
    All these I better in one general best.
    Thy love is better than high birth to me,
    Richer than wealth, prouder than garments' cost,
    Of more delight than hawks or horses be;
    And having thee, of all men's pride I boast:
    Wretched in this alone, that thou mayst take
    All this away and me most wretched make.

    W. Shakespeare

  20. I wish your daughter much success as she chooses the path that she has taken.

  21. One of my favorite poems and such beautiful images to go with it! Thank you!

  28. Hi Poppy, Happy Birthday to your daughter and congrats on your one year blog anniversary. This is one of my favorite poems and I appreciate you sharing it at the Open House party.

  29. Happy blog Anniversary and a very happy birthday to your daughter. I loved all the beautiful scenes, flowers and photos. A lovely poem and post. Thanks for sharing, have a happy week!

  30. One of my favorite poems also. I think of that poem when people ask how my husband and I met. I could have taken 2 different English courses in my last semester of college. I took the wrong one (long story as to why it was the wrong one), but I met my husband in the course. So, that decision has made all the difference.

    I loved all the photos, but the one of the bench and the red flowers - wonderful!

  31. Love this! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,

  32. I think Robert Frost would be quite pleased with your lovely illustration of his poem! Happy blog anniversary to you and wishing your daughter much success!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate hearing from all of you! Have a great day!
