Patina, Porcelain, and Petals

Hello everyone,

Today, for the first time, I bring you blooms,
some fresh, others  painted, printed, potted or sewn,
 featuring my main floor bathroom.

The bathroom is tiled floor to ceiling, in porcelain, with the colours and textures resembling the rustic patinas prominent  in Greek, Italian and French design. Depending on the light, the hues change colour throughout the day, and are brightest in the late afternoon.

The fixtures are brushed nickel and have an old world charm appeal. Doesn't the shower handle remind you of those now, antique, black rotary style telephones?

The towels are hung to dry on heated panels, which is quite convenient and cozy in the winter. The brassy mirror was a lucky find and along with the daintily stitched doily,  adds delicate drama to an otherwise, choppy, geometrical grid.

Our hospitable hosts, from above, left: fresh, painted,
and sewn, and printed and potted, below.

Slippers sit on a white bistro chair, ready for use
when tiles are too cool for the toes!

Well, that's my bathroom in bloom!
Hope you enjoyed the tour of 'les fleurs'!

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Good Afternoon Poppy, I love flowers, whether fresh, painted, potted or sewn, so I have really enjoyed all the pretty things you have shown us. My favourite has to be the embroidered towels and the beautiful jug which is holding your fresh flowers.
Your shower handle certainly does remind me of the old black rotary style phones. If you have ever watched any 1940's films, you will remember, whenever the actor needed to make a phone call, he would press the connect clicker umpteen times and then he always shouted "Operator, get me 3482!
Thank you for the peek into your gorgeous bathroom.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne

  16. My dear Poppy,

I have already shown you how much I am in awe of your bathroom. The first time I saw it, I was lost for words. Every detail is perfection. But it's always such a pleasure reading your artistic posts. I always get a visual treat, full of vibrant colours, shapes, designs and with the ubiquitous addition of gorgeous flowers - a sumptuous feast for the eyes.

    Bravo, once more.

    Love,

    Mxx

  17. Loved your bathroom and all the floral touches everywhere. The shower head / bathroom fixtures swept me back to Cyprus in a flash. Funny how we tend to forget details only to have them flood back in when given a nudge.

  25. Hi Poppy. The bathroom you show is lovely. It would be such a treat to wake up and walk into that flowery and bright bathroom. One of my bathrooms is what we call the King Tut bathroom. The previous Italian owners had a marble import business and tiled it floor to ceiling in pink marble. Oy Vey! All I need is the golden tablet of Ahkmenra!!! Lovely visiting with you again and I hope you have a lovely rest of the week. :)

  29. Had I not known this was your bathroom but happened to see a picture, I would have immediately thought of you. It's lovely. Absolutely lovely. The details are sheer perfection, and would certainly invite it's user to linger and day dream.

Our faucet in our tub at the cabin is the same as yours and yes, it does remind me of an old fashioned phone. I actually had one of those phones up until last year but reluctantly sold it when we so,d our house.
