'Chapped and chippy' aquamarine and
'orange peel' tangerine, are what I

Pantone people would not be amused.

A few villages over, a farmhouse,
pebbled in earthy, faded tones,

Meandering through mountainous terrain,
I eventually reached the northern coast, where sailboats, bobbing on bouncy waves,
didn't stray too far from sandy shores.
Back among fruit filled trees,
branches blowing in the breeze,
bare vines, (the black sheep
of this gnarly brood), being in
a gloomy mood, refused to budge.
Alas,the sweet and juicy fare
they bear, not there to dress
their lonely limbs, left the
pruned and prickly trunks, feeling
desperately miserable and grim.
Thanks for visiting!

What a gorgeous post, Poppy. I love those Crayola colors. Even the harbor is still white and gray here today. I am longing for the burst of Crayola colors that only spring can bring...I'm am impatiently waiting for tulips and daffodils to burst from the ground. A few more weeks, maybe....
ReplyDeleteThe Pantone people need to visit Crete before their next choices, Poppy. These colors are scrumptious! Not much of any color to be found outside around here yet, just a few green shoots peeking up out the ground, and the beautiful jade of moss.
ReplyDeleteCrayola, do you know that is what R.H. still calls crayons? That's the way he learned it many years ago and that's what it has remained.
Orange peel, love the color! Can feel the juice dribbling down my chin.

Beautiful words, my friend! My alternative for "like a box of chocolates" is: like a box of crayons.
ReplyDeleteBrenda

ReplyDeleteThe picture of the house is the background intrigues me. The shape of the roof is lovely. Wish more buildings were built that way.

Seattle Washington is planting a "forest of food" and planting fruit trees for every citizen to "harvest"! what lovely idea! I hope someone is enjoying those beautiful tangerines!!!! (they look like that to me!!!)

ReplyDeleteMay you have a lovely week. Hugs to you!
You live in such a pretty area, I can almost feel the wind and salty air on my face. I hope you have a great day and a great start to your week. Heather
ReplyDeletePOPPY! Your first picture immediately reminded me of the flag of Ireland! (Of course I like the old Gaelic Harp one better, but it is what it is.) How neat, huh?
ReplyDeleteYou take such beautiful pictures and I always want to be standing where you are when you do. I love how old and gorgeous everything is there. Hugs.
That school would bring a smile each time I'd pass it, and I'd try to go by it as often as I could. You have such beautiful walks!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I love all the lovely colour combinations in your photos.
ReplyDeleteThe crayola colors are beautiful....especially the tangerine. Looks like you are enjoying lovely weather too. It's gotten hot here in Florida already but I can't complain. It's green and lush already. Enjoy your week! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think the colours would be too bold for a house, they seem to lend a nice contrast for a school.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to MM Poppy.

How pretty the red, white, and blue sails sails look against the powdery blue of the sky and the deep blue of the sea. After the stormy winter skies and the ice and snow that have prevailed here in Ohio for way too long this year, the images of your beautiful countryside offers hope that we may see beautiful sails billowing against fluffy white clouds and back-lit with sunshine from the shore of Lake Erie in the not too distant future (that would be after the several feet of ice covering the lake melts of course).
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely gorgeous place you live in, Poppy! I can't believe that building is a school house. Lucky kids :)
ReplyDeleteYou live in a dream, a beautiful place...take care my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Titti
