Spring in Their Step

Goats, stand in a field of daisies and buttercups,
nibbling on grassy greens, pausing only for a quick
glance at a curious, camera carrying passerby.

In a neighbouring field, a chorus line of naked,
grapevine trunks, strike a pose - a prelude to
their full dress rehearsal, later, in the summer.

Against a thorny background, delicate beauties in deep purple,
dance a harmonious duet with dual toned partners, their petals
softly swaying to the sounds of a fresh, spring breeze.

Layers of texture, from yellow to pink to green and blue,
fill the landscape with pretty hues, brightly marking one's
mood, long after the dabs of daylight have faded.

Amid a finale of springtime fusion, clusters of red poppies steal the show. Charismatic leading ladies, they shine on a stage of rolling
hills, supported by a cast of naturally talented characters.

Regarding this post, my 2ooth, and all the others before
it, thank you for your kind visits and sweet words!

xoxo

  2. You make me smile, dear Poppy :) How I love seeing your beautiful countryside... the blooming flowers are so cheerful and colorful and seeing such a pretty field makes me want to go lay in it and look up at the clouds.

  3. Such a pleasure to visit your blog. Your photos are so sunny. Does the sun always shine in Greece? I guess that's a silly question. We have rain today with gray skies, but I know the rain will bring the flowers here before too long. Thank you for sharing your beautiful countryside, Heather

I could almost hear the goat chomping on the grass, the wind blowing through the gentle green of the flowers, and smell the fragrance of the lovely flowers growing alongside the grape vines. 24. While all these photos are stunning, there's something about that first one that has really captured my heart. It's the almost paint like quality it possesses, especially the background.

As for goats, as a Cappy they're some of my favorite creatures and as Tammy can attest, we have more than a few things in common ;).

    Congrats on 200 posts Poppy!

  25. Do they leave the area around the grape vines in their natural state instead of tilling? It's better for soil conservation and great to see it being done. Don't show me any more pictures of goats. I want one and it would be ridiculous. Way more ridiculous than the chickens I already have running around my yard. Congratulations on reaching 200 and here's to 200 more!

  30. 200 posts, and everyone a jewel! Poppies may be the leading ladies here, and well they should be, but your supermodel in the first picture, perfectly framed by yellow daisies, shows what rewards your curiosity brings you, and us as your readers. Inspired!

I think there is a spring in your step, Poppy dear, not just in Nanny Goat's--or is he a Billy Goat??

  36. Dearest Poppy,
Two hundred marvelous posts from one of the dearest bloggers I know-congrats my friend!
Spectacular views from every angle combined with interesting goats. Whenever I see goats I am reminded of "Gregory The Terrible Eater," a children's book which I frequently read to my oldest daughter when she was a child. An interesting tale of Goat who should have been eating "goat things," but preferred green beans and such...
    Happy Wednesday with love,
    Jemma

  54. Poppy, you are surrounded by so much beauty there in Greece!! It really is a feast for the eyes. I love the curious goat. :-D I think the third pic is my favorite -- just love the juxtaposition there. Are the deep purple flowers Anemones? They're lovely mixed with the yellow and white daisies.

Thanks for sharing from your corner of the world! Visiting from Amaze Me Monday; I hope you have a great week.
