In Season

A woman of autumn, I am,
in this third stage of my being,
lightly seasoned with sage,
 clearly no longer green.

'Mountains in November', Julia Lesnichy. A landscape
of  Dewena's beloved and beautiful, Blue Ridge Mountains.

But I know a wise, wintry soul
from the south, who gently calms
stormy hearts from afar, in a manner
sweetly reminiscent of spring,
for the blooming smiles and
  warmth that she brings.

'Carolina Wren in Autumn', Janet Zeh

Our minimalist, mutual friend,
whose yearning and yen for
wabi sabi and zen, fittingly
nests in the home of a wren,
and whatever the season,
meets and greets the world
 from her window.

This post is dedicated to two sweet hearts,
my friends, Dewena and Tammy
Wishing them both a speedy recovery!

Thanks for visiting
and have a lovely week!

  5. I read your beautiful words and looked at the images twice, and will probably do so again. They're so beautiful! I think of myself, as ol blue eyes said, 'in the Autumn of my years' as well, though I suppose I'm clearly headed for Winter at lightning speed ;).

Things just aren't the same without our friends, are they?

  34. Beautiful Autumn touches here Poppy, that first painting is definitely you! After such a long, far too hot Summer I'm ready for falling leaves - despite all the raking ahead!
Seeing our Carolina Wren makes me happy - ours have already moved into the hanging Boston ferns on the front porch for the cooler nights - always a happy time.

Hope your friends are doing better.
Are you staying in Canada for Autumn?
I'm off to France this week - know the countryside should be looking lovely there too.

Take care dear - hugs, Mary

  40. Poppy dear, I see you there in the first picture in the autumn foliage, walking with purpose but mindful always of the beauty around you, in "this third stage" of your life"--the loveliest stage yet.

I think that you are more than "lightly seasoned with sage", sage being "a profoundly wise person."

This "wintry soul from the south" thanks you for your health wishes, and for those of your readers too, and I especially thank you for Julia Lesnichy's "Mountains in November", a reminder of the beauty my mountains show all year long during each season.

May all our seasons be filled with such beauty and treasured friendship,
    Dewena
