MAY DAY MUSINGS

Wreaths  for the May! for happy Spring
Today shall all her dowry bring
The love of kind, the joy, the grace,
Hymen of element and race,
Knowing well to celebrate
With song and hue and star and state,
With tender light and youthful cheer,
The spousals of the new-born year.
Lo love’s inundation poured
Over space and race abroad

Excerpt from May-Day by Ralph Waldo Emerson (1867)

  2. Dear Poppy,
Happy May Day to you! We're celebrating, as the French do, with little arrangements of lilies of the valley from our garden.
    Very best,

  3. So beautiful and well chosen - both the poem and the pictures. No celebrations here in the UK (we're boring that way) but I am with you in your celebration.

    Love,

  6. This is lovely Poppy:) and your pictures are gorgeous. A field filled with flowers, flowers in the hair, flowers in a wreath.. all symbolize springtime. Happy May Day!
