Still No Sign of Spring

Dreaming of spring,

on this white, chilly night,
wondering where it could be.

Caught in the storm?
Stuck in the snow?
Frozen  from
numbing frostbite?

Oh, my sweet Spring,
hope you are safe and
are well on your way,
for it feels like you've
 been gone forever.

Now, about the delay,
don't worry; I miss you so much,
promise that I won't make a fuss.
After all, better late than never!

Tell me, my friends,
any sightings of this sassy season
in your neck of the woods?

  1. Spring is on it's way! Keep on watching!Nice pictures...

  2. Spring is being a bit elusive here too. We had HOT summerlike days in most of March. April has come in with howling winds.

  3. Spring will be there before you know it! :D

  4. I know what you mean! We got about 6 inches of snow over the weekend. We had meted down and it was looking so spring like but then more snow came. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Spring will find it's way! I know a lot of the west coast and southern bloggers seem to be right on track and in full spring mode. Oh well- when it does arrive it comes on fast and we'll be enjoying it with much appreciation!

  5. I would love to be able to share ours with you. It's torture when you see great weather in other places, I'm sure. :)

  6. Hi Poppy!
What nice pics you have in your post!
Nice to hear from you again. It´s raining in Southern Spain at the moment and it´s a very depressive weather .. all those fogs at 14°C!!! Vienna is even better with the temps, it´s even warmer there and sunny with 23°C.
I hope you are settled now in Canada and I wish you all the best.

  7. Hello Poppy, we have had some nice spring like weather but now we are back to cold, wind and rainy weather here. I hope all is well with you and you have a wonderful spring.
    Julie xo

  8. I wish Spring were not lingering behind there, dearest Poppy. If anything will coax it out it should be your sweet lines and beguiling pictures.

Like others above, I wish I could share ours with you. The white crabapple outside my window has put on her fluffy white tutu but I imagine it will soon be changed for a tender green one.

Toronto's fruit trees will surely be flowering soon!
    Love to my dear friend,

  9. Spring seems to be eluding us all this year from Ontario to Newfoundland. I am grateful that we didn't get the snow yesterday that you did though but it is so very cold. We can be happy in knowing that this snow and cold won't last long and we'll soon be enjoying warm spring breezes and sunny days. xx Pam

  10. Even in the UK, Spring has been late arriving this year. However, yesterday was balmy and we sat out most of the day in the garden with the dogs. Bliss! It was a one off though and today is cold and wet...

  11. I'm sure spring will arrive in Toronto soon too. We had a lovely, sunny weekend and I saw the garden growing, it's cold and rainy again, sigh.....Anyway early or later we will have spring.
    Greetings from Holland,

  12. Spring showed up early here, just as the groundhog predicted, but he forgot to mention those pesky snowflakes that keep showing up! My blooms are chilly now and covered in white. I hope you are doing well, it's always fun to check in with you!

  13. Yeah, this April Foolishness called "snow" has to stop! Oh, but it won't be long now! Lovely blog! Aloha!

  14. Hi Poppy, hope you are well. I was surprised this morning to see it was snowing back east. All of my daffodils are in bloom and the roses and clematis are covered in buds. It's exciting to see it all come back to life.

  15. Poppy I hear you my friend on waiting for Spring. We have had teases of days in the mid 80's and have now dropped into the 30-40's and have a warning of 3-6 inches of snow approaching. YIKES!
You have been in my thoughts and I hope you're enjoying your new employment, Love the first painting of the Pink blooming trees.

  16. Hello Poppy,
It always surprises when a big snow storm comes in April. How dare it? I love all your images and I am sure in no time at all the strong spring sunshine will emerge and sidewalk cafes and patios will be abuzz with joy and activity. Spring has sprung in Ireland and the daffodils are in their prime and tulips are emerging. My favourite time of year.
It was lovely to see you post today Poppy
    Helen xx

  17. Hello Poppy, Spring is kind of fickle lately. Sometimes it seems like it is here other times seems like old man winter does not want to leave. I am taking it day by day and looking forward to warm sunny days ahead. Pretty post and images. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

  18. It will come, we have the first signs here!AriadnefromGreece!

  19. It's still snowing here. Ugh! I had to go out in this awful weather this morning and nearly broke my leg after falling on icy stairs. But I didn't :).

That first picture looks amazingly like a painting! And why have I not noticed your sidebar pics? Are they new? Very pretty!!

  20. Dear Sweet Poppy - love your pictures. Spring is on the way for you soon. Hope you like your new job. I have been busy doing what I can in the garden and loving all my roses in bloom. We had quite a warm March and are expecting close to 90 tomorrow and Wednesday. Then for the rest of the week we are going to get some much needed rain.

Stop by and see my roses in bloom. Think of you often my friend.

  21. Oh Poppy, I hesitate to even tell you how beautiful spring is in Greece. It is the first time we've been here early enough to experience the flowers in bloom and the olive groves seem covered in sunshine. It is as magical as you told me it was in your writings. Good wishes for spring to spring up in your new area of the world. Think of you often and hope you are doing well.

  22. HI!! It is me Penelope! From Santa Barbara! How did I miss you moved back from Crete??!! Did I fall off your email list? It happens! Please catch me up!

Our daughter in Massachusetts was snowed on for two days! Hoping for skiing! (she is the optimist of the world!!!)

Please catch me up....I fell off the blogposts!!

  23. I heard on the news that it was rather cold in Canada lately, but spring is making its way to Brittany, so hopefully, its next stop will be Canada ;)

  24. Oh Poppy we are full on here. The wildflowers have painted the countryide in yellow and lilac. I have never paid such attention to these details of nature as I do now that I have started photographing them. I hope you are doing well and staying warm and safe. Spring will show up sooner or later in your beautiful area.

  25. Good Morning Dear Poppy!

    Greetings from Texas.
Well my dear it is warm here and the garden is growing, but you know by the time July arrives I will be drooling for your cool wonderful and beautiful weather!
So lovely to hear from you and see your lovely words!

  26. i love your plaintiff loving message to absent spring!
we seem to have two seasons now where i live... winter and summer.
we are having temps like 85 here (29C)! already hot!
where is the gentle temper of spring? ... with warm sun but little cool breezes and maybe a light rain? ah well.
at least it's better than your snow! oh how i wish for you that spring will come soon dearest bean! stay well until it does!
your pictures never fail to delight.
    as do YOU.

  27. I just thought of you the other day, Poppy. I wish I could send you a bit of spring. Over here the fruit trees are blooming, our fig tree has lots of leaves already and the lawn is full of wild flowers. The turtles have come out as well as salamanders and lots of butterflies. I hope you won't have to wait too long for spring to arrive.

  28. Our Spring has been a Spring of teasing...some days sunny and 60, the next day below 30 and snowing/freezing/rain/hail. But that's typical for IL springs.. I know its not long before its really here...

  29. Hi Poppy,

I don't know how I've been missing your posts...I hit 'Follow' again. I saw a comment from you on Dewena's blog and thought, "Wow, I haven't visited you in a long time!". Hopefully we are back on track.

We are wavering back and forth with the weather, cold, then warm, then cold. I have tulips and daffodils coming up, the trees are budding and the grass is green. Sometimes it just changed overnight!

Hope all is well with you!

  30. Oh Poppy, in great Canadian fashion we woke up to snow here in the west this morning. Spring keeps teasing us and then Old Man Winter keeps returning to over stay his welcome. I just love the mixed media print of the clothes hanging on the line! I bet on these snowy Spring days you pine for your beautiful spot in Crete.

  31. Happy Spring to you, too! And hope that Springtime will come to you, soon. Greetings in April!

    1. Happy May, Poppy! And Happy Holidays, too! Hope as well, that Spring has come to you, with sunny time and bloomed flowers all over! At forecast it is said that weather it can be felt as a long autumn... It is actually so,so cold for this period of time, but the trees are all green and sometimes it rains...
Hoping for the best for the next period of time, lots of joys and many thoughts of well for the lovely month of May!

  32. I hope that spring will soon be coming for you! xx

  33. I'm sure spring is waiting for just the right moment to make her debut and then she'll be there to stay. :)

  34. It's just around the corner for you - I'm sure of it!
Here on Vancouver Island it has been spring for some time. The blossoms come in waves, and soon the trees will be finished, like the daffodils, and it will be rhodo time. I love the colours of spring!

  35. Spring has jumped back into hiding here in Virginia as well. Worst part is that it was warm enough for budding of all kinds to start; it leaves me hoping we still have blooms later on. Have a blessed day.

  36. Only little signs of spring here in IL. We're back to very cold temps, lots of rain, and some nasty snow. Good to hear from you again!

  37. Spring can be so capricious, but she eventually shows up. We are enjoying some beautiful, early spring weather that is wonderfully cheering. I'll waft it over from our side of Canada to you. Winter must seem especially long this year for your first one back in Canada. Hugs.

  38. Hi Poppy! I have missed visiting you and your fun and inspiring posts! Spring is late here too, in Upstate NY. We have had a lot of snow and more is expected. Spring was late last year too but I can only hope and pray it will be here soon. Happy weekend to you!

  39. So good to see a post from you, Poppy! We had a very early spring - mild temperatures throughout March, causing spring flowers to blossom a month early. And then - Poof! Spring is gone and winter is back full force! I think it will be back in about a week from now!

  40. I'm afraid that your spring has come to us and decided to stay.
I'll try to hurry it along its way.

  41. well just to show you how long it has been since I visited I hadn't realised you had returned to Toronto. I am sure there is a story behind you leaving beautiful Crete, so I send you good wishes, and happiness in your new space. Take care Poppy.

  42. Hello and welcome home Poppy! I'm a bit slow on the blogs lately, and just happened to see you had a 'new' post back on April 4. I'm glad that spring has now fully arrived for you ... gorgeous day today. I do hope that the fine weather lifts your spirits. You sound rather sad in the last few posts. My husband works for the Red Rocket commission, so if you have any complaints about bumpy wheels, I'll pass it along to him ;) And you're working at my old profession (maybe you have my old job!). Take care Poppy, it's nice to hear from you again. ((hugs))

  43. Spring has been here on the coast for quite some time now, but I get regular updates from my brother about the on-again-of-again Toronto spring. I have it on good authority that it will arrive soon - and that there will be sunshine!

  44. It´s finally springtime here! But today its raining, well good for the greeness...
Have a lovely week, take care!

  45. I think that I must be as hidden away from blogging as your Spring arrival to your part of this big world and maybe by now, it is all bright and cherry and full of pretty blossoms where you are. We have had the Bradford Pears and Redbuds all bloom and gone to dust already and now the first of Spring flowers are showing and looking glorious, after the long Winter. I miss you, and needed to catch up and so happy you had, had this share for us to see. Stay well! Hugs~

  46. Poppy...I hope you have experienced a bit of springtime by now. Our lovlies here came and left much too quickly! The daffodils were splendid until several days of summer temperatures took their toll and the dogwoods and azaleas succumbed to several days of rain. I relished the few peony blooms...even though they are not suppose to grow here! The fence roses are quite pretty with budding promises from the magnolia, hydrangeas, and gardenias. The garden calls! Hope you have a good week...smiles, Susan

  47. Sweet Poppy, I hope spring is finally making her appearance in your area. The trees are starting to bud here in the mountains and the grass is starting to turn can't be much longer {{smiles}}

Thinking of you and wishing you a joyous week. Hugs!

  48. We had the strangest spring! It was so warm in Feb/March, and then really cold in April. Now, it feels like summer! Hope spring has finally found its way to you!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate hearing from all of you! Have a great day!
