A SUMMER SERENADE

(click on link above to hear our rendition)

Music: Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics: Charles Hart

Vocals: Nicholas Tsachakis, Poppy
Piano: Anna Lisowski

 Think of me,
Think of me fondly,
When we've said goodbye.

Remember me,
Once in a while,
Please promise me you'll try.

On that day,
That not so distant day,
When you are far away and free,

If you ever find a moment,
Spare a thought for me.

Think of August when the trees were green.
Don't think about the way things might have been.

 Think of me,
Think of me waking,
Silent and resigned.

Imagine me,
Trying too hard
To put you from my mind.

Recall those days,
Look back on all those times,
Think of the things we'll never do.

There will never be a day
When I won't think of you.

Long ago, it seems so long ago,
How young and innocent we were.

You may not remember me,
But I remember you.

Flowers fade,
The fruits of summer fade,

They have their season,
So do we.

source

But, please promise me,
That sometimes, you will think
Of me.

 Thanks for visiting!

Poppy

  1. Beautiful photos and what a nice post. Kind of bittersweet to say goodbye to summer, isn't it? I love that song too.

  2. What a clever way to say goodbye to my favorite time of year (I haven't been able to make the transition to fall yet...getting there slowly, though). Thanks for a lovely little rest. ~Zuni

  4. How lovely to hear you sing on a post again. And this hauntingly beautiful song. I have been too quick to hurry summer on its way, anxious to welcome the third member of the year. Now I'm almost crying for summer, especially the summer you pictured here. It was, and is, always so full of gifts that we praised in June. I feel fickle now. Why is it we hurry every season away when each season is so full of beauty and wonder? Thank you for helping all of us autumn worshipping bloggers to slow down and savor these last days.

    Beautifully done, Poppy,
    Dewena
P.S. I've bookmarked your singing to listen to again!

  9. What a lovely transition you've given us into autumn, Poppy! I of course took the words to reflect on our visit to Crete last spring. . .we spend hours looking at our photos remembering the special people we met and places we visited. . .next year hope to add you to that list!
