Under a canopy of
autumn toned leaves,
a shady, summertime spot,
I plant myself daily
I am poolside.
Propped up near my pretties,
and not far from the feline
that likes to flirt with the lens,
a pastime of his own,
for which he is well-known,
and one he can even do in his sleep!
But I digress.
So, back to my maple,
my umbrella of
and not far from the feline
that likes to flirt with the lens,
a pastime of his own,
for which he is well-known,
and one he can even do in his sleep!
But I digress.
So, back to my maple,
my umbrella of
leafy protection,
to lose myself in
a poet laureate's
words of whimsy
and witty finesse.
Thanks for visiting,
and have a lovely week!

I daresay The Prince looks quite regal, even when sleeping!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, Poppy! Your pics are gorgeous.
Beautiful post Poppy and so cute little kitty.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a darling cat! The one of him sleeping is simply precious :)
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Poppy. Have a great week!
Enjoy the time by the poolside - and that cat is such a handsome guy!
ReplyDeleteOh I think I'd really enjoy that poolside spot too. It's so beautiful there. Hugs, Pam
ReplyDeleteI need to make time, like you, to sit with a book or a journal and pen and just enjoy my surroundings.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everything just seem so much more bright and beautiful there? The colors are amazing! The air must be so fresh and clear. We have suffocating heat and humidity here again and everything is so drab all the time. Kitty sure is cute and comfy. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderfully relaxing, Poppy! I see that Prince Richard has his own beach chair, as all royal cats should! Enjoy the rest of summer!
ReplyDeleteHello Poppy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to spend long, sunny summer days! We are sure that we should never leave the spot!
And, how beautiful and contented your cat looks to be. Perfect!
Śliczny kotek psotnik, a wokół piękne otoczenie wokół basenu,miłego tygodnia Poppy:)
ReplyDeleteI must say Prince Richard is a charmer. He doesn't seem to mind posing for you. What a lovely spot under that tree soaking the warm summer breeze. Beautiful post as always.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful week Poppy.
Hugs,
Good Morning Poppy, What a lovely way to spend your afternoon, sitting by the poolside and taking photographs of the lovely Prince Richard.... I can see he is used to having his photograph taken, as he does not allow the papparazi to disturb his day.
ReplyDeleteThere is such a wonderful sense of calm about your photographs. I love the bright colour of the Colius and the Marigolds are so vibrant..... and the light....so beautiful.
Have a wonderful day.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Must be lovely to sit there on your poolside with a view on your lovely cat, together enjoying the long and lazy days of summer.
ReplyDeleteWish you a lot more wonderful poolside days!
Gorgeous colored pictures and nicely framed. Of course, I love the cat. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe start today back to the indoor pool for us. As soon as school starts, the outdoor pool closes. I got a really nice tan this year though.
ReplyDeleteA sleeping cat is a beautiful thing, so peaceful and content! I imagine that the summer heat has you both near and in the pool. It does look like a beautiful setting, Poppy.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Such a beautiful place to sit, you really have a beautiful collection of pots and plants. xx
ReplyDeleteYour poolside retreat is a lovely one, with sweet company. I love being in the water. Maybe it's time for me to join the local recreation centre and get swimming again. But alas, that can't compare to swimming under the sun.
ReplyDeleteOoh...gorgeous poolside images (and words, I might add). Just one thing is missing....a photo of YOU in your bikini! Lol!!
ReplyDeleteHey Debby Ray,
Delete'Bikini' to this newly Post 50 female, now translates as some kind of beachy cocktail, kinda like 'Bellini'. No, this is a family friendly blog, so don't want to scare anyone away with such a sight, although you seemed to be quite amused at the thought! LOL!!!
Oh my, Poppy. Your photo's are so good and your Prince is so regal laying around taking naps.
ReplyDeleteThe pool looks so inviting - I would be on a raft floating around enjoying the water with a ice tea in the holder, just drifting around and dreaming. Wonderful way to spend a few hours.
Have a terrific week and I am ready for Fall.
Mary
Whenever I need a dose of sunshine and prose, it's your blog I turn to dear Poppy!
ReplyDeleteYou never fail us with your poster perfect photos and charming narrative.
Today is no exception - oh how I would love to grab my sunhat and sarong and join you by the pool!

Oh I wish I were there, although here is also lovely. Isn't it fun to just be filled with contentment and joy where ever you find yourself in the world?
ReplyDeletePoppy, an afternoon at the pool and reading a book sounds wonderful.. And such lovely company, he is quite the model kitty.. Enjoy your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI just love that kitty!! I try to sit by my pool a little each day, too. It was so much easier when the kids were small. They required my constant supervision, so it was a great excuse to leave the dishes and laundry behind and enjoy the sunshine and water. Now, I spend my summer days driving to and from the mall! Ick! I like the lifeguarding days so much more! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Poppy, I can't blame either of you for enjoying your lovely place. Have another great day outside. Please pet Prince Richard from me and give him a little yummy treat :).
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julia
Can I say that i am there with you in spirit....it sounds so wonderful to sit back and enjoy the moments some thing I am learning to do this week! Your friend is so coy and such a ham :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful kitty and gorgeous pictures. Loved this post! Enjoy the rest of your week, poolside if possible. :)
ReplyDeleteI am just thinking...yes thinking...that I could sit right there and never grow weary of the beauty. Yes, I think that I could do that~ A very special place for a very special lady to enjoy her days Poppy~
ReplyDeleteVisiting you is always such a joy, Poppy! Thank you for providing such a beautiful spot to rest from the world.
ReplyDeleteI have been MIA, but I wanted to drop by and leave a calling card.

Prince Richard is certainly enjoying himself while out surveying his estate. He carries himself with a regal attitude and a flair for drama. You have a lovely place to read your poetry and to muse about life's gentler pursuits.
ReplyDeleteOoh what a lovely place to retreat to! Love the photos of your pretty kitty! He's the owner of this domain for sure!
ReplyDeleteOh to be a cat sleeping so blissfully in the sun !
