Robin Williams: The Clown that Made Me Cry

source

I have been so very sad since learning
of Robin Williams' passing, yesterday morning.

source

Reports say the funny man with the sweet heart,
was suffering from deep depression - the mood disorder
that claimed his life, forever taking him away,
from his family, his friends, and the millions of
fans around the world who adored him,

 University of Toronto, 1986

like this young drama student. Mr. Williams' ingenious
talent for stand up, emotional presence in drama, and
a vibrant versatility in so many other artistic ventures,
were sources of pure inspiration for me, and I studied his
every gesture and utterance that he presented in his art.

You will be greatly missed, Mr. Williams.
Rest in peace.

  1. Isn't it the most shocking and devastating news. I've never been touched more by the loss of any entertainer than him. Thankful for the wealth of entertainment he left us but forever sad that he won't be here any longer. Beautiful post, hugs from the US, Liz

  2. Poppy, you hardly changed! Drama student, really? Do tell!!
Mr. Williams was known throughout the world for his marvelous acting abilities and will be missed. Dare I ask what your favourite film of his was? (Difficult to choose as he put his whole heart in everything he did but I would have to settle personally on Dead Poets Society followed closely by Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam and last but not all RV!) He really could make us cry and laugh...
    Blessings,

  3. There are so many of us who are saddened by the loss of this comedic genius. What saddens me most is that he brought so much joy to so many, but he couldn't find that happiness himself.

  5. He will be missed, Poppy.
It hurts to think that a person feels that here is no other solution to their pain.

  6. Depression and mental illness are so often hidden until a tragedy occurs. I'm sorry for Robin William's family and for others who suffer with this disease.
You have barely changed from that drama student in 1986. Lovely photo.

  11. I have always wondered how it would be inside his head. His brain never stopped. He was so funny and could always make you laugh. But before I knew he had mental illness, I knew he was troubled. I wonder if he gel he was letting his fans down because he was suffering. As a professional clown myself, I hope for peace in his crowded mind. God bless you Robin.

  19. WOW Poppy, you have stated this loss so profoundly. What an incredibly brilliant, artistic and talented man Robin Williams was. There are not to many that bring such laughter to me that I have laughed so hard, tears come. I mean he was a genius! We never know what is in the depths of another persons soul and for all of the exceptional help he received for his depression, it was not enough, to put Robin Williams back together again. My heart ached so much when I saw the news...such a great tragedy. You my dear friend must share your secrets for staying so youthful, for you have hardly changed a bit. Beautiful

  26. Such tragic loss! Very sad, very upsetting! Looking at statistics, the number is alarming! Behind those laugh lines, a demon was lurking, ready to attack. So hard to comprehend!
On a happy note, I love your picture Poppy, so lovely so sweet. Thank you for your visit.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

  27. That pretty, little drama student could not have found a better or more versatile actor to emulate. My favourite Robin Williams film is Fisher King and I think now that it may have been the best portrayal of the personal pain he felt.

  28. Beautiful tribute. I could barely hear his name or see his face without holding back the tears. Our world will be a little dimmer without his beautiful light.
