A Mature, Mid-October Character

Of all the reasons to love autumn, and there

are plenty, from the romantic to the radiant,

both of which appeal to me tremendously,

there are two others, which you will discover,

that make me feel just as giddy.

Can you guess what they are?

Look carefully!

 

There are clues in the hues

of the clouds in the sky,

and to further exemplify what I mean, take

    note of the ruffles of pinks and purples on green.

Now, marvel at the multitude of

shadows and shades of this maple,

and finally, feast your eyes on 
the layers upon layers of
 colour and texture, like the
blazing coral and crispy nature
of this mature, mid-October character.
 Oh, Autumnal Architecture,
alas, we must declare our 
passionate, lifelong love affair!

'Seasonal Luxury': Act III

Autumn skies dramatize

 Act III of 'Seasonal Luxury'',

a play in four parts, advertised

on a marquee of leafy celebrity.

On the ground,
smaller roles abound.
'Walk-ons', if you will,
print a playbill of their own,
protagonists of the cement canvas
onto which they have been blown.

Whether in the air,
where, striking characters invigorate
mundane plots of humdrum blue,

or simply on a muddy patch

 of disappearing green,

the scene is synchronously

stimulating and serene.

Still playing, until the flaky snow

draws the curtain on this alfresco show,

you may catch it anytime, anywhere,

for it's currently being performed everywhere.

Oh! Almost forgot: admission is free, naturally.

The Form and Fate of a Full-Grown Grape

 

Presently, on the island, it's grape season.

In the early morning light of August

 jewels of juice await their harvest.

They begin their journey on a vine

while many will find their way to wine.

 Some are dried under a blazing sun

 that wrinkles them into sweet raisins.

Others are boiled into a thick spread

that perfectly complements plain bread.

 Finally, if not fermented, cooked or baked,
there are grapes that possess a fresher fate,
geared to land right on one's  plate!

Condensation Nuclei Bid Humidity Goodbye

Unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, were spotted in Toronto skies earlier today. The alien beings, reportedly trillions in number, invaded the vicinity instantaneously, landing at random locations across the city.

Within seconds, emergency crews appeared 
on the scene to investigate the phenomenon.
 The image above, captured by airborne surveillance cams, reveals a cluster of complex, helix-like structures.

Upon closer examination, it was evident that every specimen was composed of condensation nuclei, or in layman's terms,

rain.

Experts had trouble recognizing the deluge of droplets since precipitation in these parts 
was believed to have become extinct, having recently been extinguished by a force 
more powerful, namely, humidity.

 

At press time, local meteorologists predict cooler temps, with a mix of sun and cloud and a chance of rain on Tuesday. No drama. No sweat! Sounds heavenly to me. What about you? Any rainy luxury in your neck of the woods, lately?

Summer: On Schedule, Stand By...

 

It feels like an entire season has come and gone since

 I last posted. My beloved Spring, gleaming with hope and

 light and glory, finally did arrive, in all its budding beauty.

Suddenly, city streets sprouting pretty, pastel petals  

made once barren pathways to work happily bearable!

I recall the almond blossoms,

scattered across the Cretan countryside, 

fragrant confetti, dotting the meadows

with scented cheer, and I long for the day

to wander amid such a paradise, again.

 Until then, Summer is scheduled to arrive on time, 

here in southern Ontario, tomorrow, Monday, June 20, 

2016. As such, Spring has ensured that its successor

 be made to feel welcome, and thus, has already 

seen to hot, smouldering, temps  -  a show of

utmost warmth and hospitality, wouldn't you say?

 “For behold, the winter is past; 

the rain is over and gone. 

The flowers appear on the earth, 

the time of singing has come,

Still No Sign of Spring

Dreaming of spring,

 

on this white, chilly night,

wondering where it could be.

Caught in the storm?

Stuck in the snow?

Frozen  from 

numbing frostbite?

Oh, my sweet Spring,

hope you are safe and

are well on your way,

for it feels like you've

 been gone forever.

Now, about the delay,

don't worry; I miss you so much, 

promise that I won't make a fuss.

After all, better late than never!
