Pink Oleander and Purple Morning Glory |
Pink and purple pretties
befriend an abandoned, lonely house,
dabbing the clifftops, up above,
with balls of brush stroke sprouts.
Mingling with leafy greens,
from sweet figs to fruity vines,
they're rudely poked and prodded
by giant, woodsy twines!
Ah, so peaceful
are the periwinkle, prickly ones
under the canopy of olive trees,
Still,
the pink and purple pretties stay put,
to keep their sad friend company.
Thanks for visiting and
have a wonderful week!

The colors of your life are so vibrant - like your personality!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and brilliant colors. Your photos are always so pretty.

The stone house doesn't look so lonely with all the colour creeping in. I can't believe how thick those stone walls are!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Poppy, I enjoyed my meander, in the sunshine, admiring the beautiful flowers that Crete has to offer. I love Oleanders and I have just bought a pink one, in the hope that it will flower here in England. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes to you.
Daphne
I don't know what kind of plants they are, but they're beautiful. I love the way they look against the stone.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer,
DeleteThanks for visiting! The flowers are listed in 'Labels' and are pink Oleander and purple Morning Glory.

Beautiful photo's - love all the vibrant colors - such a pretty house and no one lives there, what a shame.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many interesting places where you live - I would be out exploring everything. How many years have you lived in Greece?
Have a wonderful week, dear friend.
Mary
Lovely the combination of pink Oleander and blue Morning Glory!
ReplyDeletethese are beautiful, Poppy! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Poppy
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the pink and purple pretties were loved by someone long ago and it's endearing how they stand by the house with wishfulness that someone will come home and love them again.
Nature sure does put on a good show, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Wow! very pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteHello Poppy, the stone house looks pretty with all the gorgeous flowers. I love the pink and purple pretties! Thanks for sharing, have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteThat house looks ancient! The pretty purple and pink flowers are such a lovely accent against all that stone. Love the prickly ones and the olive trees too!
ReplyDeleteAh Poppy - a beautiful abandoned place being decorated and cared for by Nature.
ReplyDeleteMary -
Such unique blooms, and you captured them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I just love that first photo, Poppy. It's the prettiest abandoned house I've ever seen!

So lovely your words accompany the pictures so beautifully!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I would love to bring that stone house back to life! It looks like Mother Nature is doing a great job in my absence though. ;)
ReplyDeleteSuch a picturesque old stone house. Whoever lived there is a kindred spirit of mine as the pink and purple and blue flowers are my favourites, too. The thistles (?) standing so prickly and tall are very striking in your photo.
ReplyDeleteA poet, an artist and a photographer....that's what this post says to me! Beautiful post my friend...:)
ReplyDeletePoppy,
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, enchanting and magical. I so enjoy the beauty and poetry you share with us!

Those beautiful plants have brought the little stone house to life, and thanks to your readers I now know that the pink one is Oleander !
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona,
DeleteThanks for visiting. Just getting ready to hit the sack and saw your comments coming through. I have the flowers listed in ''Labels'', but your comment makes me think I should put them in the captions! Hope you are well and awaiting your next beautiful post!

How beautiful! Love the old building too. Your photos are amazing....Christine
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers next to a beautiful old building. Gorgeous photos. You make me want to visit Crete! How blessed you are to live in such a gorgeous spot!
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought about growing morning glory up through a flowering shrub but what a breathtaking color combination. I'm going to remember the idea for these pretties!
ReplyDeletePretties indeed! They really cheer up the entire area in which they grow! Flowers really make awesome enliveners. Have a wonderful week Poppy!

The combination of pink and purple flowers are one of my favorites, next to red and blue!
ReplyDeleteI always love your photos, so much color and life! I think the house is charming, even abandoned. I can't imagine an abandoned house in the states looking quite so magical! Must be those stone walls!
ReplyDeleteLoving these pink and purple pretties. Must have been a magnificent sight!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures and you so have a way with words, enjoy the memories.

ReplyDeleteSorry Poppy, my spelling talents let me down. What I wanted to say is that I love the old abandoned house, and that I have missed visiting you over the last few weeks. Have a wonderful week.... Candy
ReplyDeleteThat poor old abandoned house has probably never looked so glorious, or had such praise. It does make you wonder, who had lived there, was there a lovely couple with children, how many children, who did they become, possibly a poet, a professor, an author, possibly an artist. The charm of the vines and the colour of the flowers is perfect for the natural creek stone of the old home, oh I bet the inside walls would be cold, but the outside is filled with warmth. Thank you Poppy~
ReplyDeleteI'm going to love seeing your posts over the next year, as I plan my trip to Greece... :-) Love the lush flora and love how they are pit against the stone facade behind them. Is the house really abandoned? If so, are these wild flowers that need no care (or just care by nature)? So wonderfully serendipitous!
ReplyDeleteThese flowers are exquisite, Poppy! LOVE the way they drape. I appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
