Pink & Purple Pretties

Pink Oleander and Purple Morning Glory

 Pink and purple pretties
 befriend an abandoned, lonely house,

dabbing the clifftops, up above,
with balls of brush stroke sprouts.

Mingling with leafy greens,
from sweet figs to fruity vines,

they're rudely poked and prodded
  by giant, woodsy twines!

Ah, so peaceful
 are the periwinkle, prickly ones
under the canopy of olive trees,

Still,
the pink and purple pretties stay put,
to keep their sad friend company.

Thanks for visiting and
have a wonderful week!

  3. The stone house doesn't look so lonely with all the colour creeping in. I can't believe how thick those stone walls are!

  4. Good Afternoon Poppy, I enjoyed my meander, in the sunshine, admiring the beautiful flowers that Crete has to offer. I love Oleanders and I have just bought a pink one, in the hope that it will flower here in England. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
    Best Wishes to you.

  6. Beautiful photo's - love all the vibrant colors - such a pretty house and no one lives there, what a shame.
There are so many interesting places where you live - I would be out exploring everything. How many years have you lived in Greece?
Have a wonderful week, dear friend.

  8. Hello Poppy
I'm sure the pink and purple pretties were loved by someone long ago and it's endearing how they stand by the house with wishfulness that someone will come home and love them again.

  19. Oh, how I would love to bring that stone house back to life! It looks like Mother Nature is doing a great job in my absence though. ;)

  20. Such a picturesque old stone house. Whoever lived there is a kindred spirit of mine as the pink and purple and blue flowers are my favourites, too. The thistles (?) standing so prickly and tall are very striking in your photo.

  39. That poor old abandoned house has probably never looked so glorious, or had such praise. It does make you wonder, who had lived there, was there a lovely couple with children, how many children, who did they become, possibly a poet, a professor, an author, possibly an artist. The charm of the vines and the colour of the flowers is perfect for the natural creek stone of the old home, oh I bet the inside walls would be cold, but the outside is filled with warmth. Thank you Poppy~

  40. I'm going to love seeing your posts over the next year, as I plan my trip to Greece... :-) Love the lush flora and love how they are pit against the stone facade behind them. Is the house really abandoned? If so, are these wild flowers that need no care (or just care by nature)? So wonderfully serendipitous!

  41. These flowers are exquisite, Poppy! LOVE the way they drape. I appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
