Local Talent

Last week, while scouting the village for some inspiration, I was enchanted by these purple pretties, dancing and dangling themselves around this sturdy sphere of light. Sensing that the sun might be taking a leave of absence, they huddled and hung on to the gleaming globe, in case they would need its assistance in the future.

The next day, the sun was gone, and a canopy of indigo clouds claimed the skies. Their blue mood matching mine,  (misery loves company), I was intrigued with their presence, and grateful they could stay a while.

But, it's been raining for five days straight! Lightning shows, complete with surround sound are prime time hits, easily viewed from every window in the house.

All very dramatic, but I'd rather watch reruns of local talent, free of glitz and glam, in silence, where quiet sighs of wonder, lift my spirits - who knew daytime could be so good?

Happy November!
Wishing you a lovely weekend,

  13. In the summer I like a nice rain to cool us off. Other than that, rainy days in fall and spring are rather depressing...especially fall!
Pretty flowers...they remind me of morning glories...can't tell if that is what they are though! :)

  15. Regardless of the weather, your views are as spectacular as ever. Who would want to trade it in for a million dollar? I love the indigo sky the most, it is epic. It's always good to get a good amount of rain.
    Enjoy your weekend dear friend.

  28. Your indigo canopy reaches into the depths of unhappiness and says, I'll cover you for a while but some day the sun will bleach me away and your heart will soar again. Prepare to again hear you own "quiet sighs of wonder" dear Poppy. They will come.

  30. Sorry to hear you had five straight days of rain, but hopefully it was needed (for all the plants and vegetation). I bet late autumn is more beautiful there than here though. We have a lot of gray skies.

  31. Bet everything look mighty lush and green now after all that rain!

  35. So lovely the images, I especially like the third one down...I am real colour sensitive to the point that many colours either bring me way down, or I feel an anxiety about them, or others really touch my spirit and make me feel comfortable and cozy. That is the same way with daylight and the colours of the season and also weather. I enjoy a nice Spring rain, but when it rains and there is no canopy of leaves that remain in the Autumn, I want the gray days to fade into the sunny days again. When Winter breaks it's silence and reclaims it's hold for 4 months, I freeze, I cannot do cold, but oh the beauty of a fresh white snow. Thank you Poppy, for making me think already this morning~Hugs

  36. These are lovely images, Poppy...sometimes a dark, threatening sky can be just a beautiful as a bright blue sky with white puffy clouds. When I am having a gray day, I like my skies to match too :)

  37. I like the flowering vines huddling around the globe for warmth and light. We are in a drought here in California so I would love 4 days of rain.

  38. Beautiful pictures. I like when skies get dramatic sometimes, even if it's a thunderstorm.

  39. Hello Poppy, your photos show such clarity of light. Love the dramatic indigo in the second one - that's one of my favourite colours.
We've been having a lot of rain here lately, too, and it seems so dark and grey. Enjoy the sunshine while you can, my friend.

  40. Dark rain-filled skies may not do much for your spirits, but they certainly make for beautiful photos!

  41. It's been raining here at least every second day for the last two weeks and it certainly gave me a case of the blues. On the other hand, I'm glad it's rain and not snow yet!

    ReplyDelete
  42. As always, beautiful pictures! Though I understand how gloomy it must have been to face rains for 5 days straight and to have an overcast like that but I cannot stop admiring the second picture with dark clouds. I think it's beautiful.

  43. I like a rainy day and the moody blue skies in your photo are fantastic, but five days of wet would be rather too much!

    Beautiful photos, as always, Poppy.
